Default legalization

I have seen a few threads on this site about legalization and I thought I would put in my 2 cents. For too long our society has been pushed into a life of "crime". Where are our civil liberties? Like any group that has the rights revoked you must make your voice heard. There are many organizations out there that put the issue that we hold close into the lime light: NORML and SAFER. These organizations fight for us. If anyone on this forum really wants to get involved then I have posted a link to the SAFER web site were you can print fliers and posters. These fliers tell how marijuana is a safe alternative to alcohol. It informs that marijuana is not addictive and will not kill you no matter how much you consume. SAFER works with local colleges and organizations to help inform the public about marijuana law reform. They were the reason Denver passed a law decimalizing 1oz or less of pot inside city lines and they can do the same where you live. Right now they are focusing on colleges but they are trying to grow into a national force to be dealt with and with your help they can! The only way to make people understand is to inform them about the "killer" (NOT!) weed. If you go to college that is the best place to start. We are the future leaders. Getting the word out on campus means eventually getting the word out to corporate America (and Canada)! you could even set up an email account that people that read the fliers could contact in order to sign a petition to get marijuana law reform put on the ballot in there state! Remember the state law trumps the federal law. That’s how our founding fathers wanted it. Most marijuana convictions are prosecuted under state laws unless the crossed country or state borders which would make it a federal prosecution. Please if you're interested reply to this post! Include your state if you feel comfortable with that so others around you can help in the cause! Tell your friends about this site and have them help you! Remember divided we will never succeed but united we can overcome this injustice to our freedom. If you like what you hear please respond.

Hey funk. Any thing anyone does help the cause. If most marijuana convictions are prosecuted under state law why are 12.4% of the federal inmates there from marijuana convictions. The figure for the states inmate population is 12.7%, so virtually a tie. Just thought you might like to know.

do thoes figures include petty offences? i read my info on convictions on norml i think but i will look into it. thanks for the reply. also federal convictions could be increasing because of the recent raids on grow shops in places like california where the state has no legal right to prosecute but the federal government steps in (unjustly) and takes control. either way it is good to know.

found it! "99% of marijuana arrests are made at the state level" (2007 Marijuana Policy Project)

Source:

Marijuana Policy Project - FAQ

Cite in original context:

"Because 99% of marijuana arrests are made at the state level, well-written state medical marijuana laws effectively protect patients, despite federal hostility."

another good organization is the Marijuana Policy Project. they have a bunch of "pre" fabricated letters you can sent to your senator or house represenative so they will bring the issue to congress. here is the link.
