Are 9/11 jokes funny or do you feel they push the line?

I was out at the pub and someone there told one, it was funny, but I got a bit sensitive towards the joke. I did not laugh, but I did not look upset.

Now that I think about it, should I have laughed or is it too soon?

I have noticed that after every major crisis - Chernobyl, Challenger, Kuwait etc. there was a spate of wonderfully tasteless jokes. It was our national immune system dealing with the awfulness of the situation, an assurance that our spirits were not broken.

After 9/11, i didn't hear one good bad joke. Not one. That's when I knew that the bastards won a big one. They broke our collective spirits. It is my opinion that on and after that day, it would have been our duty to joke just as awfully as possible ... to show that they'd hit us but not hurt us. I'm saddened that we're not as tough as we say we are.

Repeat the joke. I will laugh if it is funny.

depends on the joke...definitely not too soon regardless.

I just read it again and I still don't get the IHOPs. Is it cause Americans are supposed to love IHOP?

Fuck, it doesn't matter, it's lost on me.

IHOP makes me sick.
