I agree with you. For a whole bunch of reasons, your thoughts should not be subject to state control or sanction, yet they are.

No; they are crimes of action and expression. The thought is not at issue afaik. A fellow who spends his life thinking atrociously bigoted things, but never utters or illustrates them, is 100% legal, even if he's wasting good lobe. cn
