The most interesting thing about the story in my view, is that King's fiancee (Kelly) was on the jury for King's suit against LA. Sort of like winning the lottery except for the whole "being engaged to Rodney King" thing.

"His fiancee heard him in the rear yard," he said, and found King in the pool when she went outside.
Kelly was a juror in King's lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles in 1994."
