The cartoon is not being completely honest, he should of just explained how you can get aids. I might go as far as say he could have contributed to the spread of aids with this speach
1) You can use the same water fountain- Maybe its a sharp water fountain and cut someone with aids, maybe you have a cut on your lip...
2) A rat is your midst has been spreading aids- This could leave one to believe that "rats" or the dirty man pictured (Dirty men wearing trenchcoats spread aids)
3) or even the same cafeteria -Well you could just so long as you aren't having unprotected sex or doing smack in said cafeteria
4) Tom hasn't changed - In fact he has, Tom has aids so his immune system is breaking down, this brings about dramatic changes obviously. The kids should be taught to be careful not to get tom sick so they don't compromise his immune system. They shouldn't be rubbing sweaty elbows together on the basketball court, now if it was HIV thats different but he clearly says aids.
I would argue that Mr Turner, Captain Planet, and Coach are all guilty of continuing the spread of disinformation about aids and HIV in this episode. If I watched this as a child I would think that its ok to drink from bloody drinking fountains with a cut lip after someone with aids, I would also avoid men in trench coats at all costs, and if offered I might accept someones used needle while shooting up smack in the cafeteria or have unprotected sex. Thus I conclude that Mr Turner and his animated friends conspired to spread aids.
