"He said he has agreed to serve at least five years in jail in Canada, if it means his two friends facing the same charges can remain free."

Man I love this guy. One important thing to note is that he offered this deal to the American Federal government. They have not yet accepted it. In fact, they have made no comment at all. It's still just as likely he and his three friends will serve the full 10 years in the U.S.

yea, absolutely correct, i think the concession that he is going to recieve jailtime as a sentence is the story. The Canadian government should be ashamed of themselves.

no right really. he sold seeds to the u.s. from canada. It's just the fact that he has so much support and is adamant about what he believes. he's definitely cool in my book, but still a little out of his mind!!!

We don't just police the world through war anymore, now we also apparently tell other countries how to handle their legal actions....total BS if you ask me. The US gov't really has to chill, if they locked us all up now there would be 55 million smokers out of population....a lot of whom contribute to society and hurt no one. Now we decide it's OK to tell Canada what to do....shame on the USA and Canada.

And props to Marc Emery for trying to get his friends off the hook...it's called loyalty and a conscious, our gov't should take notice and do the right thing.

Five years for selling seeds? The only justice would have been no trial at all.

Governments have gone WAY overboard in enforcing drug laws that should not even exist. The prisons are so over crowded now, the taxpayers can't afford to pay for housing the inmates. California will soon release 22,000 inmates convicted of non-violent offenses because of massive budget deficits. Governments willl have to wake up to the fact that if they want to fund their immoral welfare states, drug laws will have to be wiped from tne books.
