Tuesday November 20 on Countdown, Keith Olbermann talked to MSNBC’s David Shuster about revelations from former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan’s new book, that President Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove were directly involved in deceiving the American people about their roles in outing covert CIA operative, Valerie Plame. Anyone paying attention knew these allegations to be true all along, but as you would expect, Olbermann and Shuster nail it.

the president is a liar. this is so well understood by now its not even surprising. it's expected. when he opens his mouth, here comes a lie.

Hopefully this might signal the necessary impeachment process. We as a nation cannot allow these travesties to pass un-answered, as that would set a precedent for future malfactors of either party.

Actually she was a covert op. She was in charge of spying on Nuclear proliferation. I don't know where you get your info. but it was wrong. She was into things like spying on Niger and the yellow cake uranium, one of the reasons her husband was picked to check it out. The crime for outing a covert agent is called Treason and in wartime the sentence is death. So your whitehouse bunch are guilty of treason and should face a criminal court and have the death sentence hanging over their heads.

McClellan won’t implicate Bush

News broke this week that former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan is not only publishing a book on his experiences, but is also adding some insights to the Plame leak scandal. Indeed, his publisher released a six-sentence excerpt, that drew all kinds of attention.
Most media reports interpreted this to mean that McClellan was implicating Bush and Cheney directly in the leak and subsequent cover-up. The problem with the six-sentence excerpt, however, is that’s rather vague. McClellan “unknowingly passed along false information,” but that’s been his line all along. Bush and Cheney were “involved” in his inadvertent falsehoods, but what does “involved” mean, exactly?


Apparently, not nearly as much as White House critics had hoped.

“There’s no suggestion in the book that the president deliberately lied and sent him to the podium to tell people something that wasn’t true. But it’s pretty clear Scott went into battle without proper body armor,” said Peter Osnos, founder and editor at large of PublicAffairs Books.

“Scott’s not suggested that the president was himself party to a conspiracy to mislead. But it’s pretty damn clear that other people knew what they had done and didn’t tell the truth,” Osnos said.

In other words, McClellan isn’t going to implicate Bush in the scandal; he’s going to exonerate Bush’s role in the entire fiasco. Typical.

On Wednesday’s Countdown, Keith Olbermann talked with former Ambassador Joe Wilson about revelations from Scott McClellan’s new book and it’s effect on his wife, Valerie Plame, the victim in this case. Wilson hammers away at George Bush and Dick Cheney, calls Robert Novak a “gossip columnist” and assures Keith he and Valerie plan to review the new information with their lawyer and decide how to proceed with their civil suit after the holidays.

Wilson: “Well, I was amused by some of the Washington pundits today saying this was old news. I remind people treason is never old news. When you betray the national security of your country it deserves to be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, however high and mighty the officials involved in it might be.”
