wow, I'm glad to see such response to this.
I kind of figured most of this was outdated, wish I could have found a date to attach to it. I agree with him on the paper side of it, it's easier (and faster) to grow a marijuana plant to 5' than it is to grow a tree to 5'. Couple that with the fact the hemp could be used for other applications, it really does make it a versatile crop. I know there is no point in wishing, but I wish the government could look past the stigma and realize just how much this crop doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. There are much more dangerous drugs out there that need the enforcement focused on them, leave pot alone!! It's a product that has many uses, and has many people who openly admit to using it. Isn't public opinion enough to sway our government anymore? Or am I just hoping for what was envisioned for us, not what we've become? marijuana is the shit, and the government can't handle it's people being happy. actually, most of that stuff is true. it was the people like Rockefeller and Dupont that made cannabis illegal. the only funny thing i find is the "alien" plant. other plants do have separate male and female individuals.

I believe the premis that big business got rid of MJ for profit motives, and Anslinger was a Butt boy to the FBI and ATF and had to make a name for himself. I also Believe Hurst was an evil asshole and was a major player in the legislation to ban MJ. I am not quite convinced that crops of MJ could replace Fuel for automobiles, or make ropes as strong as the synthetic fibers of today. I also don't want to wear hemp underware. Actually the hemp grown for fiber is not your psychotropic MJ that we enjoy. Once during a big dry spell in 69, I bought a lb of bodacious looking flowertops in Huntington Beach, smoked some and got high (I thought), But after getting home with it, I discovered it was ditch weed from the midwest, and had a very small % of THC, I ended up giving it away to my friends that couldn't find any and we smoked it for the taste, tasted good. BTW I went back to get my money back and the culprits were gone

the only reason hemp isnt legalized for production of things in our country: the government does not have the resources or manpower to go trudging through hemp fields in search of high thc marijuana plants. this would take ALOT of time and money considering that people would have to grow fields of thousands maybe tens or hundreds of thousands of plants in order to sustain a demand for hemp based products. marijuana and hemp plants are basically the same just different sub species, they look identical. this means the only way for police to find marijuana in a hemp field would be to test the thc% of all the plants in said field... AKA not gonna happen.
