First off, that was a 1930s cartoon, I think a lot of what that was against has already happened.
2nd. We are no longer the big dog on the planet.
3rd. Capital-ism- is an ism also
4th. that was a very childish rendition of what the country is really about now that this regime has made imperialism the main focus, (Another ism) we have stepped into a new arena.
5th. I thought it was extreme mindwash, sing the song and wave the flag, but behind closed doors....................

you're just mad because the generalization of the Unions was too accurate for your tastes.

FYI, Union-ism brought about the middle class. Capital-ism is wiping it out. Greed-ism is the main contributor.

that's funny because if you overlay a graph depicting union membership numbers with a graph showing the size of middle class America it forms an X.

as they declined in the 50s the middle class exploded. coincidence?

There would ne no middle class without unions, do a little research on early 20th century labor strife and what the corporations were all about. they are returning to that 1919 mindset, and the middle class is dissapearing faster than you can say Jack Robinson Jones. I guess you are not aware of this where you live, but here in La-La land, foreclosurers are at a record high, the highest in the USA. The American dream has turned into the American nightmare. But I'm sure you don't care as long as you've got yours. That is the emerging picture of your character.

it's odd then that once unions started to decline the middle class came into existence.

Again I repeat: the unions are responsible for getting American workers livable wages and benefits that allowed the middle class to emerge. do some more research. now that union-ism is on the decline and corporat-ism is on the rise, the middle class is going down the shitter. It was these union livable wage jobs that allowed parents to send their kids to college and the emergence of an educated workforce brought about the middle class upsurge in the 50s-70s. Once educated, they saw no need for Unions, hence the decline of union-ism and then 2 generations later as corporat-ism is sweeping America, the fast decline of the middle class is upon us. The corporations have no conscience, remember? They care not about employees or the environment in which they operate. Without Government controls (which you despise) another Bhopal would be eminent.

Maybe if you guys showed sources? Any proof for what you're arguing about?
I thought it was a cute cartoon, simply replace the disatisfaction of those groups with the capitalistic way with the dissatisfaction that many people have for America in general and it's the same cartoon, give or take a few statistics. (While America used to be the leader in many things, other countries have caught up with us.)
I'm proud to be an American. I know that things aren't perfect, but the great thing about America is that you can change it. You just have to get enough people rallied up to do something.
The problem is that things are so livable for so many people that no one really wants to bother.
