Default I'm voting for Carter
Jimmy Carter once said: "Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself."

* Message to Congress, August 2nd, 1977

That guy is so frigging cool.

Carter was and is a great guy. Unfortunately he got a bad rap because the country fell to shit after Nixon and Ford messed everything up, and Carter inherited a recession. We got pissed because Carter tried to solve the Middle East Crisis, and John Q American had to suffer at the gas pumps. If you remember Carter, you remember sitting in the backseat of your folk's car, waiting in line, and listening to the adults bitch about paying $2 a gallon.

Maybe that's why oilmen run our government now. Still, I think if they just gave it a chance...who knows what mighta been.

Yep Carter was a good president and is still a great human being.

He was way ahead of his time on conservation.

Default If you're wondering what he thinks now...
Check out this interview done on October 10th 2007

YouTube - Jimmy Carter Says the Darnedest Things-1

Once again, I love this man. And, if I may, Bill O'Reilly sucks infected donkey balls in hell!
Ahem....Pardon me. Just expressing opinion, that's all.

Yeah, I loved Carter too. I remember how his resolve kept 50+ Americans held up as hostages in Iran for 444 days. Oh, yeah ... I love his policy of price controls on gasoline and the resulting lines around the block. Yeppers, I just loved the "odd & even" days that the federal government instituted for gasoline purchases. Oh, and I loved the edict that came down from the Carter administration limiting the speed limit to 55 miles per hour. Trying to buy gas and trying to get to work in California with the long commutes everyday was a friggin' nightmare. Hey, the hyper-inflation was great too. Yep, I love Carter to death!

Yeah, Carter was a great man, still is, But your right he inherited all the shit from nixon-ford and had to eat the arab oil embargo because he wouldn't kiss their asses like the republicans. Carter is probably the greatest president since FDR, but was curtailed by the congress and vilified by republicans then and now. Repukes really hate Carter because he showed what a caring individual would be like as president, the absolute opposite of the republican agenda.

The reason the hostages were taken was that Carter wouldn't change set loyalties to the current Shah, and supposedly allowed medical care to some leader that wacko students opposed. These folks didn't like that, and took over the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Tehran, holding 63 U.S. diplomats-an international crime that Regan just ignored.
It wasn't until Carter was voted out and Regan supplied these wackos with guns...if you're old enough to remember "odd and Even days", perhaps the Iran/Contra scandal will ring a bell. And as for price controls and the gasoline shortage, do you really think that cheap gasoline is a God given right, or that a president of his country would enjoy hassling the folks who he needs votes from with the "odd and even" days? Back when FDR was in office, he rationed sugar and metals and all kinds of shit, and those people gladly surrendered their convenience because there was a greater problem at hand, just like the Middle East was way back in Carter's day...
oh wait, that place still is a problem, and the last American to pull together a lasting peace treaty was thrown out in 1980 to save some hostages. But I guess Carter was just holding you up at the Exxon so he could impress that Nobel Peace prize committee that gave him a metal...that selfish jerk.
Americans today get so jacked up when anything stands in their go-go action ways. So fuck it, give the darky foreigners all the guns they need to kill each other. Undercut foreign nations so you can save money at the pump and get to work on time. There is no way it could ever bite us in the ass. Like we're ever gonna have to worry about Iran or some other bullshit country?
