it was clinton making the comment to kennedy. and if it wasnt racist, ted kennedy sure thought it was. so much so that he told hillary to take a hike. probably followed by a comment like

"clinton i am gonna support the negro with no dialect"

Or it could just be that Obama was a junior senator when he started his campaign and would have actually been someone that did the shit work for the president and other senior senators, and clinton was making that point very badly.

But yeah he was a jackass that acted like his toy got broken when Obama started to win over his wife.

And Reid is obviously not a racist, and that is why his apology got accepted. He is just an old dude and used really backwards language.

I love that the republicans are all over this though.

Accepting Reids apology is hypocritical and you are right to point it out, but you fail to see that making it into such a big deal when you bitched already about it being bs for anybody to bring it up about your guys is just as hypocritical.

I worked in state government a long time and I saw far more racism among the dem admins that the republicans. The attitude of the dems was that they had the blacks paid off so they could go ahead and call them niggers. That's exactly what we are seeing here too. And you know what? They are right. We are seeing no black groups or leaders speaking out on Reid. Why? Because they are convinced their bread is better buttered on the democrat side. Forget principles.

I think he was being sarcastic but if he wasn't hopefully he opens his mind instead of being ignorant. If not well, I feel sorry for ya. I love the stereotypes! They are so ridiculous. lol!

    Don't be offended. It's a joke.

No, the reason there is no liberal outrage against Reid's quote is because of context. Even the conservative republicans know there is no substance to the outrage. It is merely an attempt to smear Reid in the midst of a contentious race in Nevada. If you're going to speak about an issue, shouldn't you at least understand the dynamics of the politics? You actually believe the rhetoric? This is the problem with our society - an ignorant electorate.

trent lot was removed from his position, the exact same position reid has. and he was removed by republicans. in other words, he didnt meet OUR standards. sure your side would of bitched like a 7 year old school girl till they did remove him but he was removed.

and he apologized profusely and in writing and obama still said he had to go.

also, check out what he actually said. you have to make an end around argument to even make a racial insinuation about his comments. he said nothing about blacks. he gave a dying old man a compliment on his birthday, period.

amazing you guys, amazing that you can say this stupid shit with a straiht face. there is very clearly a double standard. not even arguable. if you made the argument in a courtroom the judge would hold you in contempt.

    ignoring the facts again ?

    1) Trent Lot wasn't removed. He didn't even resign from the Senate. He did resign as Republican Leader of the Senate. He resigned from the Senate 5 years later and became a lobbyist.

    2) Trent Lots comments regarding Strom Thurman were blatantly racist. Strom Therman was running a seggregationist platform in 1950. Lot said ""When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over the years, either."

If it appears to you that the liberal side of this issue is "running an end around" it is simply because you ignore the facts, as usual.
