Um, I don't see anything in the article about laws telling people what size tv they can buy. It says they are implementing energy efficiency standards for televisions, just like the ones already in place for other household appliances. If you want a 50 inch tv, you can buy it. The manufacturer will just be required to adhere to energy standards (Like the energy star ratings for dishwashers, air conditioners, refrigerators, washer/dryers, etc).

"Average first-year savings from reduced electricity use would be an estimated $30 per set and $912 million statewide."

So, this is actually going to SAVE you money. Sure, $30 doesn't seem like a whole lot, but:

"If all TVs met state standards, Rider added, California could avoid the $600-million cost of building a natural-gas-fired power plant. Switching to more-efficient TVs could have an estimated net benefit to the state of $8.1 billion, the commission staff reported."

So, that's 600 million dollars the state doesn't have to spend on a new power plant (which you would be paying for), and 8.1 billion dollars total.

Which is better? Use more electricity and foot the bill for a 600 million dollar power plant, or use less electricity (saving YOU money) and not have to build a new power plant and save 8.1 billion dollars?

Last I checked, I wasn't the governor of California. I'm not affecting your life in any way by posting my opinion on this forum.

If you didn't want people to respond, why did you post this thread? Once you post on a PUBLIC FORUM, it becomes my business if I chose to read the post and respond to it.

Again, nobody is saying you can't buy a 60 inch tv if you want to. CA is simply saying to the MANUFACTURERS, "Hey, let's comply with some energy efficiency standards, shall we?". Do you manufacture televisions? No? Okay, then, what's the problem?

So you are going to make millions of dollars while using "kazzillions of barrels of oil?" OK!
Not even going to comment on the rest of what you are saying, because it is obvious that it would have 0 effect.
