Default why 2 parties?
once again, stoned during civics class. i know there are numerous parties but why 2 major ones? doesn't this automatically split "One Nation" into 2? this seems counter-productive. it seems congress spends more time fighting penis envy battles then they do actually fixing things.

one party thinks like this:

1. because the government is made up of superior people who know more than everyone else the government must manage as many profitable aspects (health, employment, environment, etc) of the peoples' lives as they will surrender to government control without a lot of violence and back talk. government must acquire and exploit any liberty that is not appreciated by the barbaric citizens. all acquired liberty should be sold back to the citizens and once government has become a total monopoly the elite can do what they please...

the other party thought like this:

2. the role of federal government is to make sure that the basic, God given (call it innate if you're insecure about God) human rights of every citizen are not violated by the state government or hostile enemies.

as long as there is one party so determined to snatch up the liberty of the citizens there needs to be another party to give hope for a better tomorrow.

i respectfully disagree. it may, at one time, have started that way. today, the two parties are a just different enough to split the general population in two.

it's a good show for 'we the people'. but if you notice, the two parties work together quite well to crowd out smaller parties who are unaffiliated.

the rulers of this government have these two parties to keep us occupied. a candidate from either party will do nothing that they have not been instructed to do.

you must not have noticed that i used the past tense; one party thought like this....

i agree though, the parties are just barely different enough to keep the people asleep.

do you become one or the other because that is the party you chose?

or did you choose that party because that is who you are?

once you chose a party do you change your ways or at least lean in the favor of your party simply because you belong to that party?

does your government control you?

while i hope the idea of killing people on a whim is never widely accepted as a "right" i have to agree that both parties have become parasitic - but only as much as their constituents will allow.

the republicans do have a quite diverse (no pun intended. - actually, yeah, that's funny!) makeup that supports great candidates like Ron Paul. the top dems demand such a lockstep uniformity that it's impossible for them to produce anything but more of the same at this point. they will just go more extreme left if anything.

7X, for all your smoke blowing, I'm still an independent and will vote for what I consider to be the candidate that will do the most for the people, including me.
