The problem is: business owners need to pay more to their employees instead of giving it to the Feds, just like Chris's boss does. Why were my wages the same in 2004 as in 1975? 30 fricken years and wages never went up, did costs go up?
With the greedy company owners trying to amass huge wealth instead of taking the lions share and sharing with their employees, the workers are put on peasant wages.

Did you ever consider starting your own company, offering "fair" wages, and then recruiting the best of the workers from the competition? Surely if the competition were paying unfair wages, their best employees would jump at the chance to work for you, Med.

There you go with the old head up the ass thing again. I already posted that when I was in business I paid well above the going rate and had very loyal employees. I could never figure out why the other guys wouldn't do it. I had guys from gas stations miles away putting in apps. Most of the station owners I knew, were selfish jerks, with super egos and asshole written all over them, Kind of how I envision you, VI. And I wouldn't steal from the competrition, I trained them myself, that way I got what I wanted and needed.

One question for all, why do we tollerate canadian truckers who have been hauling in the US for years, but mexican trucker is a nono, seems like a double standard to me...

Wow makin $20 in the 70's you should have a good stock pile of money considering average minimum wage then was what $3.00 and prices for everything were very low.I worked my way from $4.25 to my current $20 an hour wage and it only took what 18 years.So Id put you in an upper class bracket medicine since you had such high pay for so long.Yeah and damn Clinton for signing NAFTA into effect that cock sucker screwed us good.I say turn the border militia loose on them and give them the right to shoot on sight.Now if we could just get that fence and acroc moat dug we might have something going. Actually filthy, I made 17.70 an hour in 1976 as a lead carpenter, you know, the one that runs the job., that's only a dollar over scale, and yes, I lived quite well in the 70s, not extravagent, but adequate. Trouble is: The mexicans started moving in on construction jobs, so I bought a gas station franchise and also lived quite well. I've generally considered my pay structure as lower middle class, never quite rising to the priveledge arena, and as a gas station owner, I had to work as a mechanic to pay the bills, as the fuel barely paid the overhead. The beauty of that was, I got to keep 100% of the labor, After taxes. When you're in business, you send the government a check quarterly for taxes, Man that really hurt, like you had to cut a check for 3-5 grand, ouch.

Because of a few reasons:

1.) Canadian safety standards for vehicles and drivers is pretty much on par with the U.S., while Mexican drivers and their vehicles are both suspect at best , completely unsafe at worst.

2.) Canadians are not breaking into our country by the millions ( yes , millions ).We do not have to worry so much about letting Canadian trucks arcoss the border unchecked as we do Mexican. Canadas economy is much better than Mexico which equals less desperation.

3.) Although Canada dose import a fair amount of pot to the U.S., it is much less violent than the cocaine / heroin action comming from Mexico, and the trucks in question may be used to direct-drop product all around the country.
