Well, before you jump to conclusions, perhaps there were some previous circumstances that occurred. Do you know what the crowds were like after previous games? Were there fights where students were hurt? All I saw in this video was the police trying to keep the crowd moving toward the exit and prevent loitering. Then the one kid called the cop a "mother fucker." Did you hear that, or were your prejudices toward cops blocking your hearing? Cops MUST maintain an air of authority ... it means their survival.

All I can say is ... if you don't like cops, the next time you, or a loved one is in trouble, call a hippie.

Last time I called the cops was about a business burglary and they damned near shot me. I'd much rather have called a hippy. i no longer call the police. Your as likely to get killed by the responding officers as you are the people comiting the crime.

I will say that in the video the cop had NO authority (not even an air of it). I don't even want to go back through and count how many times he said "lets go" but a man with authority doesn't repeat himself. I'm sure he felt good barking out orders and degrading someone while on his power trip; but he looked like a chump to everyone else including me.

Everyone was slowly making their way towards the exit, an exercise in patience on the officers behalf would have shown him that he didn't have to say anything or get in any verbal / physical altercations with anyone. All that was much ado about nothing.

Umm-Hmmm ... and should an officer of the law just stand there while the person he's giving an order to calls him a "Mother-fucker?

Yes... He should. We used to have freedom of speech. If someone calls me a mother fucker on the street and I ran up and submitted them in an attempt to "detain" I'd be goin to jail... Something seems wrong with that. Next time u see a cop talk him into callin u a mo-fo then try repeating the actions of the cop in the vid... Ud be shot within 2 step

What you fail to see is that his overzealous actions predicated the response. They wouldn't have called him a mother-fucker if he wasn't being one in the first place.

Him getting called that is a direct effect of him being one.

If he just let everyone shuffle out like they were; there would have been no confrontation and it would have been a whole lot more orderly than with the officers ostentatious methods.

Committing a crime (assault) to offset a verbal attack is no way to convey control or respect or the illusion of such.

He was a rent a cop, not a real cop, a real cop would know better than to exhibit deadly force from a snide comment thrown at him.

Cops are just people, albeit, some have overly active violence tendecies, usually inspired by working with the most scummy part of the society. I've noticed in my 68 years on the planet that most cops are the unpopular kids from high school, maybe even the picked on ones that are out for revenge. That's not to say there aren't a few good men in law enforcement, but heavy on the "few". Power corrupts, and the police have that corrupting power. They eventually begin to believe they are above the law, the thin blue line. I mean, if you were working Narco, and came accross a couple of Kilos of pure peruvian flake and a couple a hundred grand, would it not be tempting to skim off a bit, maybe make the bad guys dissapear and keep the whole damn thing? Yeah I thought so. Walk a mile.
