True costs, which would include actual costs to employers, employees, and the states should be what is published. Not the CBO's estimate of the cost to the federal government.

Mitt Romney = silver spoon douchebag.
While any argument against "free healthcare" should include the financial impact, let's never forget the slippery slope of allowing government another opportuntity to institute a mandatory program of any kind. Bigger government = fewer choices, less liberty. Fuck mandatory. I'm not anyone's slave. I don't need another government program crammed up my ass " for my own good". If people want a particular healthcare plan, have it, just don't support a mandatory plan and try and say there are choices...that's bullshit. |

However, as the CBO probably has failed to account for the free-rider problem, mostly because they can't quantify it, then tax hikes are assured, and the entire system will fail. Thus, under no reasonable circumstances I can not support it. Now, excluding the above, I can not support it on principle either. I can not comprehend how the government, or anyone, can believe that some one has the right to steal another's property through the government, and force them into involuntary servitude, or slavery. This proposal is immoral because it relies upon theft (taxation) that instead of benefiting the entirety of the public (with out infringing upon any one's liberties) benefits a SELECT MINORITY which actually for the most part don't want the "benefits" being shoved down their throats. 60% of the uninsured just don't want insurance either because they make too much, or because they are young and have more important things to spend their money on. Their money, their choice, and that's really the end of the discussion

What amazes me is that the supporters of this boondoggle are now trying to sell it using conservative principles. All we hear now in the media is how it will cut costs, provide competition and more choice. Now when did anything run by the government ever cut costs, and when did it ever increase competition? What the government does is precisely to eliminate competition. Do you have another social security office if you don't like yours? No. Do you really think you are going to have an alternative to universal medicare? No you won't.
It seems like this administration describes things exactly opposite of what they are. The government can run the auto industry and the banks better we are told. They can run the healthcare industry better we are told. How very soviet of them. Look, the public option is a back door to a single payer system and the single payer system is a back door to a government takeover of an industry that represents one sixth of the economy. Obama spent six months picking a dog. We can spend some more time on this. Back to the drawing boards idiot congress! |
