Universal health care would be great, but only if the government had NOTHING to do with it. I'm not opposed to everyone having insurance or being able to see a doctor when in need, I'm just totally opposed to the inept bureaucrats running our lives and make life decisions for us.
You know years ago I had a roommate and he tore his achilles tendon up something bad, couldn't walk for 6 months and had a cast for the whole 6 months. When he went to the government to ask for help for living expenses as he had spent all his savings they asked him how much money I MADE. Well he told them and they said they couldn't help him with the rent because I MADE TOO MUCH. WTF does your roommates income have to do with yourself? In other words the state basically said that I had to support him because I made enough money for the both of us. I kicked his ass out and told him to go back to the welfare office and tell them that he got evicted because he hadn't paid his rent in 5 months. They still wouldn't help unless he has been on the street for 6 months. so basically he had to spend the whole winter with no home before receiving any aid. He got jack shit from them and jack shit from me and ended up moving to another city where he found work that he could do.
