Those asshole producers finally just bought the boy a $50K 1 Bedroom apartment because his house was bulldozed. All the while the little girl is out on the streets with her family still. since the english raped and pillaged their country like 200 years ago the Indians have hardly ever stood up for their rights as humans. it probably has to do with their religon but honestly the indians have been exploited for centuries and the worst part is they dont stand up for them selves. the caste system insures that no man woman or child can ever improve their status in life, therefore they are so used to eing shit on they dont even complain, its really sad that the only indians that sucseed in life come to america, they work their asses off, get the best grades in school, graduate validictorian and get a 60,000+ a year job, act mad respectful even to strangers and ass holes, start big families and still get shit on for sucseeding

I really liked that movie and had no idea that those kids live in those slums for real. I also think it's awesome that the movie people put them in it, but Damn am I glad I only downloaded it!
I Would sooner give the $ for a dvd to the kids.

Go to India and buy a bootleg off the street markets. The money will most likely feed the mouths of the poor who live there. It is sad to see third world conditions. I'm shocked every time - it really does ruin you for life.

I've never been to India, but I've traveled a lot into the little towns of Mexico. The conditions in some of them are appalling with open sewers and mud shacks.

What makes the difference between them and us? I believe its faulty governmental systems with their skewed economic systems.

It's an extremely complicated issue IMO. But the government and the economy do contribute. I've spent a lot of time in Central America and you want to know what really fucked that area of the world over? US involvement. Our occupation was hypocritical and caustic.

For one example (of which there are hundreds), research the US involvement in Guatemala during the civil war. They sponsored and carried out the killing of six Jesuit priests during that time (not to mention Oscar Romero). They meddled and completely abandoned the country when the people were finally allowed to vote. They created conflict for the country and left them to deal with the damage. If you want the true extent of it, look into our involvement in Honduras, Bolivia, and to take the cake - EL SALVADOR!

To this day, our largest foreign embassy is in El Salvador - a country of 7 million people. Also, there are more Salvadorians in the US than in El Salvador. It's an extremely problematic country and the US is partly (greatly?) to blame.

Oh, yes, the US is such a horrible evil monster, I mean, South America would have been just so much better if we had let Europe do with it what they wished...

Had we done that it'd probably look more like Africa than like what it does now, and frankly South and Central America look a lot better than Africa.

So you have no problem with the US's involvement in Central American affairs? Because they're better off than other countries, it somehow legitimizes the damage we did - as if destroyed potential should not be considered?

To me, the bottom line is that our interests are always selfish - never altruistic. How can wholly selfish intentions and interference ever be justified? I'm left in want of your justification (and not so I can attack or repudiate it - I just can't envision egoism and force being rationalized).

lol you have never been to india i see. first off the open markets do not sell dvds or any electronics or anything worht more than a dollar. if salesmen in the market as much as notice a white man walking down there street they will jump up chase you down and hassle you untill your in your hotel room with the door closed and locked. he will try to sell you evrything he owns, from a loaf of bread to his gold fillings out of his mouth to his children. also if one person notices another sales person talking to you they will swoop in and try to steal the deal, and before you know it you have a dozen indians fighting over who is gonna sell you a road map
