Yes I will go along with the federal reserve as a root causal factor, but it takes the will of the politicians do subvert it....and they have. Just understand that this administration is squaring the debt misery upon us, with NO means to pay it back. If the Fed and previous admin's had us near the cliff edge, this Obama has hit the accelerator and taken away the safety belts.

No doubt, all the more reason for the spotlight to finally be shined on the fed's governing board and it's nefarious acts. For real I think Ron Paul may be on to something. Now is a good time, right when the american people are beginning to be more inquisitive about our deficit spending. Great time to pressure our elected officials! Remind them who they work for, after all do they think that when the bankers have full control that they will be exempt from the tyrannical shitstorm coming everyone's way?

HR1207 has over 240 co-sponsors.
Less then 50 more and its Veto proof.
Why is it still in commitee?

The theory is that once a 'real' audit is done on the FED
it will prove to corrupt to allow to continue to exist.

I think the chart referenced is a little slanted in favor of anti-tax zealots. After reviewing the sources and links on the site, it can safely be said that it is decidedly one-sided.

Not that I am FOR debt without end, I am against it (as well as I am against war without end, mind you). We do indeed pay an enormous sum towards the interest on that debt and that should be remedied. However, cutting taxes or modifying the tax structure to a flat tax or retail excise tax isn't the solution, IMHO.

Making the tax rate more progressive based on the ability to pay is a start. Over the past 50 years, the tax rates have become flatter and flatter with the middle class taking more and more of the burden. Corporate taxes are also a scandal. Not that they pay too much, but they pay FAR too little. I heard one statistic that 2/3 of corporations pay NO TAX AT ALL.

If we stop pussyfooting around and get single payer healthcare in the U.S., we'll be better situated to take on taxation and the national debt.

Let me first start off by saying that I believe Ron Paul to be at least in appearance an honest man...that's a positive. In my opinion things are actually quite simple - it's a choice. Choosing to participate in the system allows people to lead lazy & comfortable lives. If you don't like the system you could always attempt to go "Into the Wild" & live a natural life in natural time with no pre-conceived system. This of course requires much work which I presume most people don't wanna do. All I'm saying is that you always have a choice. I'm also a non-political, but when I saw this thread I had to post. I think it's comical people vote for leaders as if they need someone to direct their life...are we really civilized?

At least we have started to get the Department of Homeland Security under control. For the US gubment to blow such much cash on national defense is a national tragedy in the first degree. Why?

One word.... lobbies.

Money needs to be spent on defense, but it needs to be spent WISELY. This I'm afraid doesn't happen often enough. Surely there are tons of waste in the defense dept., and to cut missile defense by 15% is NOT the answer. One need only look at the headlines to see that we must stay ahead in that technology arena. Tighten the belt certainly, but more importantly funnel the VALUABLE TAXPAYER MONEY to projects that we actually need.

The answer to Why? I was alluding to would be the preamble to the Constitution. Your right, though. Waste is a part of the government plan. It creates the beloved financial crises, always manipulated, in order to mandate more freely, unobstructed by rationality. With the new mandates comes the next crises...

And how true about missile defense. Reagan was mocked incessantly by the media and politicians for proposing we embark on a Strategic Defense Initiative, nicknamed Star Wars by the mockers. Where are the mockers now? That's right, the nightly news. Only they are producing it now instead of reporting it. Lucky us...
