Default ***DANGER: Illinois congressman seeks to ban dank MJ!
The siren is calling out for MJ supporters to defend the cause. Does this law make sense to anyone? Call your friends in Illinois, and tell them to kick this guy out of office at the end of his term. This could affect Med MJ laws if this idea propagates.

Tougher fines urged for potent pot dealers

Legislation to be introduced by Rep. Mark Kirk would target people who sell marijuana with a THC content exceeding 15 percent.
Monday, June 15, 2009

CHICAGO (UPI) -- Traffickers convicted of selling highly potent forms of marijuana should get tougher sentences, a Republican congressman from Illinois said. Legislation to be introduced by Rep. Mark Kirk would target people who sell marijuana with a THC content exceeding 15 percent, his office told the Chicago Tribune in a story published Monday.
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main active ingredient in marijuana. Average strains of marijuana have a THC content of between 5 and 10 percent, Kirk's office said.
Under Kirk's proposed law, first-time offenders could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
Drug dealers knowledgeable in cross-breeding plants can produce strains of marijuana with THC contents of up to 20 percent, said Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, who supports Kirk's plan.
"It's not a good idea to have people that messed up," Curran said.

I was just going to post this story. I think it's hilarious that they think better weed is worse for you. Doesnt that just mean you dont have to smoke as much to get high? That seems to me like it would be better for you. Ahh jealousy.

(WGN-AM)- U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk will call for legislation Monday that would toughen drug trafficking laws regarding a highly-potent form of marijuana, with penalties of up to 25 years in prison for a 1st-time offense.

The law would target offenders who sell or distribute marijuana that has a THC content exceeding 15 percent, which is between 5 and 10 percent higher than average marijuana, according to Kirk's office. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main active ingredient in marijuana.

Drug dealers are increasingly cross-breeding plants to produce high-potency variants of marijuana, which are called "kush" in street slang when they have 20 percent THC, according to Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran.

"When you amplify the strength of it, you are increasing the harm to the system," said Curran, who supports the legislation, which would amend a federal law. "They are more dangerous behind the wheel of a vehicle. It's not a good idea to have people that messed up."

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has reported that kush sells for as high as $600 per ounce--creating the same profit potential as crack cocaine, according to Kirk.

He will release more information during a news conference in Chicago Monday, where he will be joined by representatives from the Lake County Sheriff's Department, the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group and Waukegan Police Department.

And you guys still try and pretend MJ isn't a drug??? 25-30% THC would bring on insanity. No wonder you right wingers are so insane.. The more you do the more you need, just like every other drug. Face it, you guys are drug addicts. You go around on your high horses condemning crackheads and junkies, claiming MJ is not a drug, what a load of crap. You guys are serious marijuana addicts, marijuana junkies. This ought to bring out the wingers, winger addicts. Serious mental illness can be brought on with too much THC. If you don't believe me, just watch that documentary, "Reefer Madness".

It wasn't exactly this politician's bill that bothered me. It's the dialogue. CA recently banned concentrates using fuels, and I hope they don't expand restrictions like adopting ideas presented in this Bill. I believe we here in CA are expecting a new draft of these initiatives. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think the state is waiting for Arnold's study on rec. MJ. But they'll eventually take that idea off the table and they'll have to revise the state's Med-MJ initiatives as expected which we all know will add more taxes. You gotta keep your eyes on these peeps in gov't. They are pretty sneaky.

thats really the problem, the dea's and governments new MAIN argument against weed is that it is ridiculously strong, dangerous and lethal, and many who arent involved w/weed, have already fallen for that argument, and truly believe that pot is much stronger, which makes it dangerous...... the only thing that will help us is if the government, OUR government, finally lays the myths to rest, and really studies and admits to the people that thc is harmless, and non toxic, no matter how much a person ingests....these opponents to legalization have selective hearing, they make a point, and then we make a point that contradicts what they just said, and then they just turn the blind eye....like the strong pot bs....there are pharmecuetical drugs that contain 100% thc, and the opponents to legalization wont say a fuckin word about that!
