A man has admitted growing what police described as the strongest cannabis ever found in the UK.

David Wyler, 55, of Poplar Avenue, Nottingham, admitted producing cannabis and possessing the drug as well as possessing amphetamines.
Tests on 500 cannabis plants seized at a house in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, showed they were the strongest ever found in the UK, Derby Crown Court was told.

Police believe he made £500,000 out of drugs. Wyler will be sentenced later.
The house in Ilkeston was entirely given over to producing cannabis plants, the hearing was told.

Test carried out by forensic scientists on the plants showed the THC content, a measure of the drug's strength, was 29%. The normal reading for cannabis is 12%.
Police seized £30,000, which was in the possession of Wyler, along with three cars.

Man that shit would whack you out. I was told by the seed co. that white widow was the strongest at 19%, kinda makes that look like bunk! I remember when I was a youngster, many moons ago, that weed was rated in tenths of a percent, like .7%, excellent weed went up to about 5-7% tops, but the normal weed was under 1%. Thai stick, Panama red, Acapulco gold, Columbian gold, they would have been in the 4-7 percent range. Didn't have hydro at that time, so the modern breeding has definently raised the bar!

How stoned do you want to be, I think you could reduce the buds down with alcohol and get near 100% thc, then you could shoot it up and Viola, stone city! I used to get pretty high on 4-7%, there was always a Quality of the high issue. Stronger does not necessarily mean a better high, maybe more intense, but isn't the goal of getting high to mellow out and enjoy the process? 29% thc is pretty potent, I believe that would definently be a one hit high!

Gentlemen, what that man was growing was Cheese. I've mentioned it before on this site, and the smell is stronger than your average carbon filter can handle. There's loads of it in England. There's another batch in in a couple of weeks. Also we'll soon be getting a few cuttings of this magical plant...

...if you want to believe the hype that weed is stronger now than ever, go ahead...but you would be wrong...

...talk to an old schooler and see what they thought of maui waui, or malawi gold, or thai stick...better than what most of you are smoking today...

...remember that we are just beginning to test cannabinoid levels so "highest ever recorded" isn't very impressive...and thc is rarely the dominant factor of good marijuana...i prefer a high thv level...

Ask the old timers and they'll tell you how great everything was 'back then.' Fact is cannabis IS stronger now than ever... I really hope that one day you Americans get hold of some cheese, it'll blow you away.

Cannabis is not the only drug to have gotten much stronger over the years. Heroin and Cocaine have too. For example, with heroin back in the 60's you would have been a pop star to obtain 20% heroin, these days you can beg on the street to fund a habit where you are using heroin that is 80%.

Back in the 60s and early 70s, there was weed around that had the effect of mescaline. Talk about a very slow cartoon world ... zowie!

Vi', I honestly believe that that was more down to your perception of the world and what the drug would do to you. When I first started smoking it would take only small amounts before I got stoned. That doesn't mean that the weed has got weaker, only that our tolerance has increased. People start smoking much earlier these days and they are starting on stronger weed.

You only need to study the history of weed for a short while before realising that weed has gotten stronger, at least in thc content.

Well, I believe you are correct when it comes to THC content. The EFFECT was different in the old days and that probably didn't have much to do with THC content.
