The White House has asked the president of General Motors to resign. Now, there's something fundamentally wrong with a capitalist country that goes around telling private companies what to do... especially in terms of who should be in charge.

I don't like the amount of meddling the government has been doing in private companies' business lately... yes, GM asked for help, and it was like pulling teeth to actually get any, whereas banks (which don't produce ANYTHING) just had to whimper pathetically to get their handout.

Still, this is a troubling development....

The government sits and talks about how a capitalist society is the best thing and that is what America is. It sure doesn't look like it when their telling CEO's to resign. Even after the bankers throw the money around amongst their friends in front of the public and the governments eyes, no one says a thing. Or wait, there's a lot of talking, but nothing is actually getting done. Just some talking. They even threatened that if the AIG bonus getters have to give back their bonus, it's going to cost the New York tax payer more then what they actually received in bonuses. How the FUCK does that make sense?

Simply put: it doesn't.

This whole thing is frustrating and irritating. I can hardly believe the government is doing what it's doing...

And I think part of it is that AIG... all of those people are white-collar rich kids. Not the case with GM...

Don't kid yourself...THEY (OBAMA) didn't ask anything...he was TOLD to resign...make no mistake about it. Any and all major decision will now have to be run by and cleared by a pack of Obama's auto team socialists. We aren't just heading towards Socialism anymore... we're steamrolling towards it.

This administration is using the tactics of fear and uncertainty to grab power at an alarming pace. As a libertarian, I'm watching with sheer horror, as the Constitution of this great country is being used as a door mat by these TEMPORARY stewards of power.

Which is just the thing that should have been done in the first place.
For years, no decades the car companies have been ignoring the consumer. The majority of the consumers have been asking for more fuel efficient cars, especially last year when gas was hitting $4.00 a gallon.
What was the answer to all of that, GM decided to make 2009 the last year that Saturn will be made and they retain Hummer.

If you ask me, they should have fired the CEOs of both GM and Chrysler a long time ago.

The reason that Ford is still in the black is because they did listen to the consumer, and started working on cars that get better mileage and also earnestly started developing cars that work on alternative fuels.

GM has 60 days to get their shit together, Chrysler has 30 days.
