Most of the time downloading torrents is illegal, but this one is perfectly legal.
http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/441...68.TPB.torrent It's a movie about marijuana laws, that goes into detail about British Columbia and how there's such a massive amount of weed there. They film this huge underground grow room that was made out of old train cars... that would be pretty sweet to have something like that. One of my favorite quotes from the movie: "Prohibition won't work. And do you know why? What was the very first prohibition? Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. And who was the cop? That's right, God. And how many people did he have to keep an eye on? Two. And they still did it anyway. So what chance do we have?" |

Its hard to imagine a more totalitarian system than what exists in our state and federal prisons ... and yet, inmates can get just about any drug they want if they have the $$$ to pay for it. Why do liberals fight the idea of replacing our present income tax system for a consumption tax ... especially considering that a tax on consumption would tax the trillion dollar underground economy? Vi How do you figure this. Do you think anyone would be reporting those cash expenditures? Do you try and recoup your MJ expenditures on your taxes? This is pure idiocy. Long live the progressive tax structure,~LOL~.

What do drug dealers do with their money? They spend it. A consumption tax, taxes those expenditures at the source of purchase. Also, with the consumption tax replacing the Marxist progressive income tax, there would be no need to claim any expenditures against my taxes, as there would be no taxes other than the consumption (sales or excise) tax. Exactly. Although, VI has posted up charts and such that porport to say the poor would be better off as they would get a check to cover most of the sales tax, The problem being in my estimation, the poor would run right out and spend that check on crap and the next time they really needed something like a new fridge, or washer or dryer etc., they would have to pay a 25-35% sales tax on that Item. What about a 35,000 new car, would the people be OK with a 10,500 tax? And wouldn't all the rich people just go out and buy everything they'd need for the next 20 years before the tax hit, and then be able to keep all their money? It just doesn't add up unless you're already rich and make a shitpile of money every year..

I mean, what other conclusion can there be from your post. Clearly if the people that you are saying are poor were using commonsense they would save that money. Though I disagree with a National Sales Tax that would just replace the Federal Income Tax. a NST would need to replace OASDI With-holdings, Medicare, Medicaid and State Income Tax with-holdings in order to make sense. Though when I was making $8/hr I crunched the numbers and came to the conclusion that I would actually end up ahead under a sales tax, because my expenses were lower than what I was taking home. Which really wasn't that challenging as I had no outstanding debts, and the only obligatory bills were rent, and utilities. Of course, thinking about the NRST it would seem that in addition to boosting the amount of wealth available to everyone, it would also spur the economy by allowing for more movement of money before it gets taxed out of existence in the local economies. Once again the idea is that the economy relies upon the movement of money, so that anything that allows money to move prior to being taxed is ultimately good for the economy. This is even more true for businesses that would be able to purchase their supplies tax free (excepting such states that have a Gross Receipts Tax, like New Mexico) and then sell their goods. Instead of hiding the taxes among the suppliers it would bring all the taxes to the foreground where the true cost of the government could be seen. One can only wonder how many people that are advocating for more taxes, or think that our current system of taxation is justifiable have failed to read the four or five lines buried on every paystub that itemize the taxes that are taken out every two weeks. Then there are the OASDI and Medicare With Holdings that are not even listed on the pay stubs but are paid by the employer. Money that should be the employees, but is stolen by the government with out most employees even being aware of it.

Many poor people are idiots, or at least not that bright. In the US, not having a lot of financial sense or restraint is a quick path to the poorhouse. And even if poor people aren't idiots, idiots are generally poor. Why do you think those payday loan places stay in business in places where they're actually legal?
I'm concerned about transient people who haven't got a mailing address to send their tax rebate to. And what about illiterate people? They'd have a hard time applying for rebate checks no? |
