Michigan Proposal 1 - Legal Growers Here?

As you may or may not know, Proposal 1 passed in Michigan by 63%. The proposal states that a patient (need doctor's prescription for a specifically listed condition) can have 12 plants and/or 2.5 ounces at any one time. Or the patient can designate a caregiver to grow for them. A caregiver can grow for up to 5 patients - 60 plants and/or 12.5 ounces at any one time. Both would need to be registered with the state.

I would like to get on-board as a caregiver once the actual implementation has been defined and have at least one grow under my belt. Just wondering how many legal growers are on this forum and what your experience has been. I know CA was the first state and had some pretty wide-open rules, but most other states were more narrowly defined and MI based its laws on those other states.

I'm a legal grower in California.

The only problem I can see with Michigan's proposal is that the ratio of plants allowed, and finished product allowed, is out of sync. For the amount of plants allowed, the product weight allowance should be way more.

I did a little more reading into this and found a couple of interesting links. After reading here the last couple of weeks I realize that 12 plants could be more than enough for personal use so I am thinking of going the patient route instead of the grower. I do have some back issues and a medical history of it, although, that is not why I smoke. But, if I can convince a doctor and get a legal prescription, I'd much rather go that route than being a grower. Growing up to 60 plants for others would probably get me a lot more attention than growing for personal use.

Giving this a bump after digging into it again.

I saw this issue was getting some attention in the media because the health department had put out some info. I was curious on the caregiver side as a legal route to grow. I wasn't sure how that was hooked up.

The following is a long read but has a lot of details. Basically, the patient has to name their caregiver and the caregiver submits various forms. So, I would need to find up to five patients and could then legitimately grow up to 60 plants.

Just a thought but maybe I could either find a site, build a site, or use this site to connect caregivers and patients together.
