I think it's good for HS students to do community service. It helps them become more aware that there are other people on this planet. There are more rude young people with that sense of entitlement these days than ever before.

Maybe it'll help them break free of the usual state of mind (me, me, me, me, out of my way, me, me, me, )

You know, I've gone through allot of changes politicly speaking throughout my life. At one point I wouldn't have minded, you think this sort of thing will be good and we must all make sacrifices for the greater good. Thats the kind of thinking that allows people like Hitler to come to power. Everything he did was for the greater good of the people. He was elected by the majority of the people to you know. People give up there rights slowly at first. But as times get hard (like they are starting to get) people start clamoring for the government to do something. Then through the tyranny of democracy they convince us to give up our very freedom. Most people when asked will say we live in a democracy. This is not true we live in a representative republic. Were the job of the Government is to protect the rights of the minority. Now they have never been good at doing that, thats why we have a constitution that is there to tell the government what it is supposed to do. Thats why I don't like the idea of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. The constitutions not there to tell US what to do its there to tell THEM what to do. But they can't follow that.

The government Lies. you all know this. Nearly everyone knows this. Thats why I look at things like the national service plan, With suspision, I don't trust Government at all.

Now don't get me wrong, I am glad we got that buffoon out of office I hate bush. But it seems to me that the Dems and Repubs are two sides of the same coin. Once the people get sick of the crap from one side they pick the other. And anyone who doesn't fit the party line is treated by the party and the media like hes not a good canidate, or he can never win.

I feel like we are being herded towards some end. But I don't know what that might be. But I'll bet I will not like it.

And Yes I feel Obama is a Communist (More appropraitly a fabian socialist). I'd tell him that to his face. My Aunt and Uncle are huge democratic supporters they spend the weekend with people like Jerry Brown and Former Dem Congress people. I've told them they are Communists. They hated that LOL.

Not that I think the Republicans are any better. They are Nazis the way I see it. No bid contracts, Military Adventurism and a disregard for the rights of the individual. All for our own good.

Its always for our own good, or for the children or the poor or whoever. They always have real good reasons why they have to tax more, get more involved with your buisness or tell you you have to do something you don't want to do for your own good. Look up Fabian Socialism.

Sorry for the rant but when the cops dressed in there black storm trooper outfits driving there apc's through the streets and everyone is waiting in line for there government Cheese you can thank the government for printing so much funny money to run all these programs and wars instead of doing what the constitution told them to do. (I expect a constittional convention sometime soon) Pretty soon we are going to be be selling off our national assets highways and what not, there gonna have to start bailing out GM soon or risk having China Buy it outright. That is what we've come to. China will have us on our knees kissing there ass because we didn't use any commen sense in trading with them. I can't wait for the riots and bread lines cause the first Chinese "peacekeeper" I find I'm gonna Scalp his ass (been a while sence anyone in my family has, My grampa's uncle had a scalp in his nightstand LOL).

I'm sure the world is a scary place when you see socialists lurking behind every corner. But Barack is no socialist. Socialism/communism is an outdated ideology. It can work for a while, but eventually it drives the intelligent class away. Obama is well aware of this, and he's no dummy. At least try and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Oh doc don't get me wrong I'm glad hes in rather that McCain. And I will wait and see. I "think" hes a good person and wants to help I'm just not sure I will like the help he gives. I will give him the chance and try to cool out. I just don't think we can spend our way out of this mess, like I "know" he's gonna try to do. As far as socialism being dead all of europe is pretty much socialist they can keep that mess over there. As far as Communisam being dead well I think its just increadably sleepy.

I just think that the government should stay out of my life and my wallet (and growroom). This shouldn't be an unreasonable request. I don't want or need there help despite there best effort. and I'm sorry I don't feel like paying for unjust wars and failed government policies. We just don't have the money.

The only thing thats scary is the incompetence of Government.

i think the government should stay as far out of education as possible

since we are already in the public school rig, i think its stupid to throw a bunch of money at a particular school and let the kids in the area attend it

i thing vouchers (school coupons so to speak) are a better solution

also the reduction of many classes, i mean alot of what people learn is complete BS anyhow and doesnt do jack (this is just high school level stuff and down im speaking of, havent gotten to college yet) i mean, i think the government is just to involved in peoples lives for the most part

as far as college goes ill say this, in georgia we have the HOPE scholarship, which will pretty much get you into any ok college (like GSU or perimeter here in atlanta). it will pay for it, all you have to do is have a B average (which in public school is fucking easier than smoking weed......i mean i did it) and maintain one through college (which sounds easy, but for some its difficult i guess)

sounds good right? well heres what happens IN THE REAL WORLD. you get a bunch of high school graduates who get into college, they get the hope, go to college for a year, then flunk out or leave and thats a whole year of college tuition wasted

what makes you think this 4K for community service a year would be any better? more so instead of volunteering for a community service project, JUST GET A JOB? why not get scholorship money just for working an honest hours wages......ohh wait, they already do that in tax reductions and FASFA

the money is out there, we dont need another hand out

!00 hours may not sound like much but when your holding down a part time job while attending collage full time I can see it being a hassle. My brother in law started collage couldn't afford it started work at a lumber mill to make ends meet. He was just a yougster all his co workers told him get out of here before you get stuck in this mill your whole life. 5 years latter guess what, no collage, working full time in a damn lumber mill. These students have more to worry about then they need anyway.

I don't know I think his heart my be in the right place and it may help people who just need that little extra bit but...

I think the idea behind community service is to teach them that they share the planet with other people.

It certainly wouldn't kill them, there's all this talk these days about teens and kids being obese, some community service might take a few pounds off those who need it. Get them off their PS playing butts.
