Default President's Budget - Emergency funding
My small part of a group project, I didn't extrapolate and expound on my views because of the nature of the project, would love to hear what ya'll think about the budget. Some really sketchy things are hinted to in the budget. In one spot there is mention of increased IRS powers to conduct secret investigations to increase tax compliance (it shows no net expense, paying for its self with secret investigations?).

Emergency funding

For 2007 there was a total of 192.3 Billion dollars labeled as “Enacted Supplemental and Emergency Funding” (pg 22 of the presidents budget). However 173.6 billion of the 192.3, 90.3%, of the money designated as emergency funding for 2007 was spent on the “Global War on Terror”. For 2007 7.7 billion, 4%, of the emergency funding was spent on hurricane recovery and relief. The balance of the emergency funding was spent on Veterans Affairs, 1.8 billion - less than 1%, and Border Security/Other 9.3 billion - 5% of the total (pg 22 of the presidents budget). If you consider that both Border Security and the War on Terror are both “defense spending”, 95% of the “emergency spending” for 2007 was spent on “defense spending”.

For 2009 there is a total of 75.8 Billion proposed as “Enacted Supplemental and Emergency funding”. Again the Global War on terror accounts for 68.4 billion, or 90.2% with another 1.7 billion designated as Border Security/Other (2.2% of the projected total). This means 92.4% of the emergency fund is already designated for the Global War on terror and Border Security. This proposal does not include any “Veteran Affairs” spending as were included, 1.8 billion and 4.2 billion respectively for 2007 and 2008. It also sets aside 5.8 billion for Gulf Coast/Hurricane Recovery, 1.9 billion less than was spent in 2007. The total for “Enacted Supplemental and Emergency Funding” proposed for the 2009 budget is 117.2 billion less than was spent in 2007, 60.5% less than was spent in 2007, and 65% less than 2008’s expenditures for “Enacted Supplemental and Emergency Funding”. (pg 22 of the presidents budget)

"In one spot there is mention of increased IRS powers to conduct secret investigations to increase tax compliance ..."

The progressive income tax, and the collection agency for the Federal Reserve, the IRS, is the love-child of the Progressives (Marxists) in this country. They will rail against surveillance of foreign operatives who are a threat to our security, but when it comes to the IRS and redistribution of income ... anything goes.

There is no room in a free society for an agency like the IRS. It is none of government's business how much money the citizen makes, how it is made, or how it is spent, providing the rights of another are not violated in the process.

Abolish the IRS NOW!
