Ha ha, I was just reading the news... and part of Harper's plan to get re-elected is to allow courts to:
- Release names of young offenders over 14years old
- Allows life sentences for young offenders over 14
- Minimum 14 year sentences for violent young offenders over 14

he claims that kids cannot be rehabilitated and that the only way to stop a 14 year old from being violent is to impose harsh penalties. He should seriously look south and realize that locking people in a cell for years on end only makes them better criminals.

Don't get me wrong, there should be penalties for violent offenses, but most 14 year old murders can be rehabilitated. They don't need to be locked away until they are 28 or older.

Why would he propose such a controversial change during an election. Its almost like he doesn't want to get re-elected.

jack layton has clearly stated that he will do everything he can to legalize... and no judge in Canada will put anyone in jail for simple possession, no matter WHO is in power.. even for growing a couple plants.. it just doesnt happen.
