I am a Veteran and have been having some issues with the war in Iraq. In my opinion Afghanistan is where we are suppose to be. My time in Iraq I seen horrors to this day bother me, and i was there when it first started. Anyway a friend of mine called me, he is a Vet. too, and he was very pissed about the fact that we destroyed so many innocent people and we do not know why. The question im aking is do you as an American feel we were justified in invading Iraq, given no evidence of WMD's or connection with Al Quada?

I'd say its bitter sweet, we invaded for no real reason.but I've had conversations with many troops who've just come back from iraq and they say the taliban is almost non existent (except for in the old extremest neighborhoods) and that piece of shit sadam is dead. so i'm still in the gray zone. by the way when were you there and what was it like? if you dont mind me asking.

I honestly don't believe that there would be even one military person who was in Iraq as a fighter on the ground that wouldn't know WHY they were there. So, I have a question for the poster ... or should I say poser? ... What were the reasons your commanding officers gave you for being there?

I was there when it first popped off. It was pretty crazy you know cuz shit was hiting the fan then. I was a tanker and was in constant battles. As far as the Iraqi people, some where happy we were there mainly because we were providing aide and food. We did get the occasional fuck sadaam but, what really gets us is the fact that before and during our invasion we were told like four different. reasons why we were there. Basicall they finally said if you want to go home we have to kill them. (not just anyone but "the bad guys"). To be totally honest i did have a lot of fun. The rush you get is constant and good. It just sux cuz you dont know how to turn it off when you get back. I am glad i made it back alive.

Now I saw today on CNN that this administration wants to sell modern top shelf military equipment to Iraq..... there's a smart move bush.... why not..they keep their 80 billion while you guys pay in the hope that they'll become a US puppet in the mid east...... It'll never happen.. It'll be like when the US sold weapons to Bin Laden to fight the Russians only to have said weapons pointed at your & our soldiers....

I'm a VET myself and I also was there when the war first kicked off. I can honestly say that no one....... I mean no one......... From the Battalion Commander to the lower enlisted really had a clue why we were there. It changed so many times. It was a 1yr after the war first started they came up with the title "The war on TERRORISM"
This will be a never ending battle. We are trying to enforce Democracy (A christian based Law system) on a Muslim nation............YOU KNOW WHAT.......I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO THIS CLOWN!!
