Weird smell

So your filter was too big for the oven, so the door is left open allowing fresh air to circulate through the oven?

And you didn't rotate the filter?

Dude, you created a mini blast furnace, that's why something caught because the temperatures would be increased at the point where heat and fresh air mix the best thanks to you creating a blast furnace.

That's called stupidity of the highest order.

Oh, and if you do it right, removing/cleaning/replacing the carbon is not as messy as you like to make out. It's another case where the "6 P's" applies.
Now that answer is something I didn't realize when reading his post.....Blast Furnace - How TRUE! Air in, air out. Serious increase in actual temps...As temps increase, air flow will increase. The temps and air flow will increase until limits of the gaps the air comes in from, hit max available flow to hole size.... A play on the Venturi effect...

NICE CALL!

Don't like the truth, not my problem.

But it shows why something may have happened to you, and it wasn't the carbon that was the cause.

Glad we cleared that up though.

Hmm, can you say TRUMP?

To which my retort is

"Democrats" and "Gun Control Works"

Your turn, this could be fun!
I got nothing for that!

I shoot ATA trap at the state and national level (Grand American). Our team was Class B champs last year....20170916_144948.jpg
I hunt, and enjoy making holes in paper. Not to mention liking tannerite going boom at great distance...
Wife shoots the NRA, Camp Perry 1K's......You wouldn't piss her off and run....Yer only dying tired.... Never even held a gun till she met me over 30 years ago...Handed her a Chi com AKS (underfolder) and showed her how to take breaths and hold. Fire between heartbeats came later but, her first shot at 100 meters was dead center....I simply stepped back and said, "You got this." She loved it and that was it.....You should see her DPMS custom built race gun...It's peep sight shooting...No scope for the class she shoots! 1K yards and no scope....I wouldn't presume myself...

Son's are Trap shooters too. One shoots for his college team (not many of those out there). The other comes to the MI Grand and the State and team shoots. He's part of our team...2 father and son's and a male single shooter round out, our 5 man team.

The old guys on the line. Love to see young men continuing the sport! Till they shoot their pants off...LOL

I think it was Prince Phillip, the ever-Politically-Incorrect Duke of Edinburgh, His Highness Mr. Queen, who put it perfectly after the knee-jerk reaction to Dunblane.

"What, are they going to ban cricket bats next"

They say it has no "terrorist" applications..

25 lbs shreds a car! (5 gallon bucket) Hell an RPG 7 doesn't even come close to it!

Had a party and did that a cpl years back..... Did the shot on property across the street in a gravel pit (my property)...We cleared the place by the time the cloud had gone over the pit walls! HOLY SHIT was the universal statement! Cops were called from 6 miles away! Rattled windows all over! Parts of the car went OUT of the pit! DAMN lucky no one got hit with shrapnel...

Made the press all around.....TV, paper. They were looking all over hill and dale to figure out where it came from..... Shit load of folks sitting around and "whistling" when they showed up and ask us if we new anything..... " No sir, scared us too! Sounded like it came out of the state land to the west.."

Glad we cleared up that I was right that your filter can catch fire and if you try this you better have a fire plan.

I was right that your filter can catch fire and if you try this you better have a fire plan. I guess we can agree on that or not idk. So what does trump have anything to do with drying out a filter in an oven. Seems kind of ridiculous do you think trump cooks carbon filters in ovens?

I've washed my carbon out. It's not exactly like brand new carbon but still works a treat. All the hostility in this thread makes me thinks someone doth protest too much
I guess i was right again about it not ever going to be close to factory specs. Did you get all of the carbon back in??? So with air filtration being one of the most critical things in a grow. Are you worried about any smell leaking by? Do you have smell leaking by??

It's not exactly like brand new carbon what does this mean???

Is this really a thing for you? Why are you so obsessed with being correct? And for the record it just means I only got about 9 months use out of it after I washed the carbon before I just replaced the whole thing because they are dirt cheap and it isn't worth my time at the moment with a 1 year old and a complaining wife to spend a day fiddling with bull shit. Is that ok with you?

]Is this really a thing for you? Not really but I decide to ask you a question since posted you washed your carbon out.

Im not being obsessed to being correct I was told that I was wrong about a personal life experience that could be a potential fire hazard and didn't want people to start a fire or mess up there expensive carbon filters. Will you be quoting the other posters and ask them the same thing?

Is that ok with you? Im sorry that you only got 9 moths use out of all that work you did washing your carbon. I think they are expensive as I don't buy dirt cheap filters for myself. And I'm totally ok with it. How long does it take to wash carbon? Do you just put it the washing machine or something? That seems like it would be the easiest less time consuming thing to get it washed to me.

I don’t reuse mine I simply buy a new one. But mine seem to last about 2 years and I can still use them after the fact. But I live in the middle of no where on 20+ acres. I use them because my family doesn’t like to smell it when they come over.
