DIY with Quantum Boards

The point your missing is HLG spent time and money, designing a custom board with Samsung chips, its not the same as what you can just order up. I also have come to the point where, I refuse to buy Chinese goods direct or through Ebay. Seems like there are more cons and thieves than not. I buy from sellers in my country, even if its Chinese made, because I then can get real warranty service, not some guy on chat trying to talk you into soldering a new chip on your board........ been there screw that! With HLG. I had an issue and it was taken care of within 48 hours!

I like to save money too, but it is not always worth it.

And this is the QB thread, not the counterfeit QB thread. Either own up to your mistake or go look up the other guy with the Chinese made boards. Bragging up this crap here is insulting to all who own them and certainly to the guys at HLG.
Ya know.. I've thought about that some, and I totally agree, there is work that Amit and Stephen put in to this... like most businesses, the people that run them put effort into making them happen. I totally get it. Having several businesses myself, owning various properties in two parts of the United States as well as build and sell firearms on the side, I'm very compassionate about making a business successful. -- But where I differ is that in all my businesses and rental properties and firearms sales, I try to be fair with the margins I charge, I don't look to make a quick buck.

And I suppose the warranty of the board is worth the price. But a DIY kit that charges more than twice as much for a driver and heatsink and parts is not fair margins. Arrow sells the drivers for ~$55 and heatsinkusa sells the heatsinks for ~$15, the parts can be had for $10. And the boards (only) never seem to be in stock, only through Amazon for $149 for two boards...

I get it.. it's a business, they need to earn a profit. But it can be had for far less. And I'm not trying to change anyones mind, I'm just pointing out alternatives. And Stephen and his dick swallowing crew are butthurt over it.

What is a counterfeit QB board? They didn't invent it. The diodes are the same... the thing the diodes are attached to are different... so what?

So your assuming everyone's stupid and didn't know about Alibaba so you came in to save us all? Your really not as smart as you think just because you all the sudden discovered some boards on Alibaba

I am not debating the boards HLG provides are good. I mean we can all agree that the Samsung LM561c SMD AZ s6 bin diodes are pretty snazzy.

And round and round we go...
Reading your posts in this thread makes me believe that you had some personal beef with these guys or something.
If your intentions were really to find out what drivers would suit best your purchase, you could have post a question to the led forum rather than coming here, to the qb manufacturers thread, and shit all over them.

I get it, you can be cheeper stuff, including their pcb design knockoff along with other legit pcb boards on Alibaba. Is this thread really the place to showcase it?

And mate, from my experience so far with hlg (i have 8 boards and 4 more in the way) their customer service kicks ass.

Have a good one,
D.

Nope, never assumed that. But interestingly as soon as I brought the alibaba boards up, Stephen and his dick swallowing crew raged out. I find it all quite comical actually.

I did initially ask about drivers and I was considering buying HLG, but chose not to when I researched what sort of margins they are likely making. And I totally get it, they probably do have amazing customer service on their stuff. And their stuff probably is totally kick ass. Not debating that. And I initially was not trying to shit all over them. The name of the thread is DIY with quantum boards, not how to put together a parts list of stuff a company charges more than twice markup, so I assumed I would offer up a real DIY alternative.. ya know... doing it yourself. Not paying for all the components from one place with a step by step guide of putting it together, like Ikea. Ikea is not DIY, neither is HLG. They just offer all the parts you put together all in one. Brilliant business model though. It clearly is working for them.

Hlg
Cobkits
Chilled LED
Tasty LED
Rapidled
Timber

All those guys having the same business model which is making these type of dyi projects much more accessible to the general public. That's why they are calling their full package as a kit, for your assembly.

This is dyi to my taste.

Thats totally respectable man. Not gunna take that away from you at all. I like to be a little more DIY, and so when I see DIY "kits" and see what the prices they charge just for sourcing stuff, I take an alternative approach.

Different strokes for different folks.

Grow got pinched by the cops based on their $67000 light bills ...
If they used Quantums all would be good ....

Approx. 40,000 plants lost ( 3 buildings )
Looked like CMH style lights from video report.
Grow was very clean and had propagation tables , and private security on grounds .

Light bill threw them under bus ...
Shit man who woulda thought a 67k electric bill...even a 33.5k lighting bill would throw up red flags.

ah mannnnnn (: pretty jealous of those. you should get a diary going!
Me too, kinda taken a lot more notice of Karma since checking out the RoadDawg. Headbanger or Headstash?

Enjoy the rift, looks like it all starts happening at week 7

With current cuts and seeds it'll be about 6 - 8 weeks before those JCC X Yeti's get popped.

Hey guys im currently doing my first hydro, ebb and flow hydroton, under two 304s currently at about 50 watts each. My growth though healthy, seems slower than i expected.

Ive been running the room at 75-85 degrees with a space heater, and im wondering if i should raise the temps more? Maybe 80-90??

What temps have others had best luck with?

Keep it over 80 if you can. Personally, I'd steer clear of anything approaching 90.

Best I can tell is there are 20, 288 boards on amazon left and only avail in 4 packs as of 10:00 est. and no restock date hopefully soon ;) 304 Boards I think I read somewhere they are at the very least, "less enthusiastic"..... about getting them out, the 288s match with more drivers I think was the reasoning. I saw the elite is listed on led gardner but no pics. I really hope the new usa manufacturing can keep up! maybe stephen and robin can retire early. funny how fast these are moving!

Sweet, I like the sound of that cross a lot. Lol, yeah man its another strain of Kama's, sour diesel ibl x biker kush v1.

Haha IF...I get an invite next year then yes mate I'll happily see you there. Your flowers have looked / look great, can't see no reason why you wouldn't be.

We are blessed yet tormented by strains lol
