seed run

Say... i have a 4' T5 array (6 bulbs). Is that enough light to make good seed if i were to polinate a whole plant?

Or should i just pollinate a couple lower buds in my main room?

Which would be better?

Pollinate in your main room and you're going to hit all your plants. A bit of a silly question on if they will 'make good seeds' under T5 because yes...they will be fine under any light that keeps the plant alive. Where/how much you pollinate is up to you and how many seeds you want, more pollination/seeds mean less bud.

Silly? i suppose to the experienced breeder it may seems so.

I keep a mom under that t5 but whn i take clones i first put it under a hps to fire her up. The clones come out of the gate a lot more vigorous.

Also, the buds i have grown under T5 were fluffy... weaker.

So between the two i though the same may be true of seeds that were produced under less intense light.

Lastly, i am clever enough not to do the actual pollinating in my main room. Lol

You need to change your thinking, right now you think buds are the same as seeds, they aren't.

Growing buds is a female producing flowers in anticipation of being pollinated, she grows flowers the same as a male grows balls. Since those flowers contain what we want, the goal in growing buds is to maximize the buds which means more THC/whatever. Now to get a seed you have to add pollen to female buds, the pollen is required and pistils/buds are required. Pollen hits pistil, pistil gets pregnant, seed grows. This entire seed growth process has NOTHING to do with how big the plant is, a 12ft tall plant isn't growing golf ball size seeds, it only has to do with the plant being green/healthy/able to supply the seed with enough nutrients to mature. Once seeds mature there's nothing else happening, the plant isn't 'giving' them anything more, mature seeds can be plucked if from plants if wanted while leaving other seeds time to mature.

Oh yea?

Now I think I understand why Uncle Ben always seemed so angry :).

# 1 i understand the basics. The question i asked had nothing to do about size. Its about vigor, strength, resiliance. Ive read and heard that before taking clones from a plant under a t5 it is a good idea to put it under some high intensity light to get the hormones going. Makes sense. So thats how i have done clones. But is it true that such produces a stronger plant and more potent bud? I dunno. Could be more bro science.

But if it is true then would it not make sense that it would be better to stoke up the hormones in a female plant before polinating it to get better seed? I dunno...thats why i am asking i the breeder section.

#2) pardon me... when i said would it better to pollinate in my main tent i thought it was taken for granted that the actual application of pollen to the bud would be done in an entirely different room than the room my tent is in. And then put that plant in my main room. Just as is recommended by everything i have read. I see my mistake in not being more clear, but that point was beside my main point.

Now instead of being a condescending cunt about all of this why dont try being helpful? Or just fuck off.

Stereotypical RIU.

I've flowered males, females, and pollinated females under CFL's, blurple LED's, 3070 COBs, CMH, and 3590 COBs. All were clearly better quality, including bigger/more robust seeds under CMH and 3590 COBs. Better lighting = better seeds/flowers/pollen imo. Will the T5's work, of course, but you'd be better off to hit a couple of branches under your main lights. Just take precautions and you'll be fine, I do it almost every run.

Here's my process:
Pull them out of the room
Put them in an area with no significant airflow
Hit the branches you want using whatever method you're comfortable with (bag, paint brush etc.)
Let them sit for 3 hours
Spray the pollinated areas and leaves with water
Put them back into the room
Spray them again 24 hrs. later in case you missed any the first time

Cheers
