Timber growlight question

I just bought and built a 5 COB kit from Timber and couldn't be happier. Top quality components and work at a fair price. I am a retired machinist and have all the skills necessary to drill and tap a heat sink. But I chose to support a small business and not send all my $ to China. Plus the customer service. China can't get you up and running with 2day priority mail. Think before you spend!

Where do you think these companies are sourcing the parts??? Where do you think their money is going??? Do you really believe they are getting their COBS and MW drivers from America? Do you believe their heatsinks are machined here in America? HeatsinkUSA does not even extrude their heatsinks.... Granted, they do machine work on them NOW, but they didnt even offer that at one time.

All your money is going to China..... You are just paying an American to make you feel like you "bought American".

Also quite funny that you are a new member here and only posting about Timber, nothing else at all...... Typical shit on forums nowadays.

Few weeks and $60 shipping? Jerry will ship you a new driver immediately and will cover the shipping if you have a bad part. Its hilarious to me that many of these "light builders" (not saying Timber specifically) talk shit on Jerry but at one time, many of them sourced their parts from him......

But, this is the beauty of a free market. You are free to purchase from whoever :) Some people have more money than others. Some people do not care what shit costs. Some do not have the brains to put together a light. No matter what you are, there is a market and Timber (and others) are filling it. Kudos to them. Im just here to let everyone know that you do not have to get ass raped :D

Hey if you guys wanna give you money to some guy in china selling knockoff reflectors and covering the name on meanwell drivers with stickers to save a few bucks im fine with that.but why do you guys have a problem with me spending a little more to support american guys like greengenes,timberdan,robincnn who already did the leg work for me and get me my shit when i want it ?
I compare it to you being able to get mexican brick weed straight from a mexican who crosses the river every day but brings it for a third less.im just gunna buy my shwag from the homie down the street for 10 bucks a bag more.ya know why? Because if the weed sucks i got somewhere to go to choke em up And get my money back lmao.naw that was a bad example but you know damn well what im layin down foo's :)

Everyone hates on the Jerry club these days, but Jerry did more for us than anyone has so far as far as sourcing parts at a good price :) Although Cutter is helping the process along now as well. Dont let these pre-built fixture makers fool you, they are not using any "special" components that us DIY do not use even though they try to make you think that :D

Not sure if this is the first thread where cob vars came under fire; an eventuality in any case I suppose. Granted there were pioneers who had this stuff going several years ago via DIY, but come on now, don't pick apart a value add that really adds value. It's electrical, it's not rudimentary. The kits have a nominal mark-up considering, no question.
