Help with setting up filter

Hey there,

I've built my grow tent, put up my lights and germinating my seeds.

I won't need it just yet but I also bought a filter/extraction fan. Pic below.

Problem is it is three parts: an extraction fan, a huge filter chamber, with wire tie things and duct tape

I have no idea how this fits together. The instructions are no help.

Please give a brother a clue!

It is generally best to have the fan sucking air through the filter, but depending on your setup this may not be possible. SO you want the filter inside the tent ducted to your light ducted to the fan outside the tent sucking the air out of the tent through the filter and through the light.

If you dont have room for filter inside the tent, you will want to duct the light to the fan outside the tent, then have the fan either directly hooked to the filter or ducted to it so that the fan is sucking the air through the light out of the tent and then pushing it out through the filter.

All u do is ductape the pieces together, that pic looks like you may have too small of ducting, fan/filter r 6" and ducting is 4" it looks like.

or some people like to go filter-ducting - fan as some kinds of fans are better at pushing and others better at pulling

also some people go ducting- fan- filter, not the most effective way but it can free up a lot of space in a small grow area

Thanks that's really helpful and I've set it up. I have a regular desk fan in the tent but do I need another fan sucking air INTO the tent?

Filter in the tent fan outside the tent pulling air and exhausting outside grow area.

Setup your output system first... If you achieve negative pressure (tent sides get sucked in) then, yes, provide an inline fan as input... Have you got any climate control in place? More info really - lamp size and type, size of tent?

I set it up inside the tent with the fan pulling air through the filter then ducting it out the tent. Feels as if it's pulling air into the tent without sucking in sides of tent.

Am using an Led light (600W with another 1000w led when they're bigger) and temps around 75f

Lights not too hot and has its own internal fan too

I would say your good to go then... You've got the option to add an intake if needs be.
