Mandala Satori

i took the satori to 11 weeks flowering and it has just finished a 1 month cure so i am now ready to report.

Strain: Satori is an indica/sativa hybrid which is touted by the breeder as an easy to grow, heat resistant plant which should also be pest and mold resistant to some degree. The strain is said to be a very light feeder. These were not feminized seeds.

The Grow: Used the paper towel method for germ, planted 7 of this strain and they all sprouted in no name starter dirt. There was a water contamination issue that plummeted the ph for the first 2 weeks but was corrected when plants were transplanted to permenant pots. Plants were vegged for 2.5 weeks under a cfl/t5 floro setup (around 200 watts) on an 18/6 schedule. They were then moved into the larger pots then vegged for another 2 weeks or so under the 400w hps, same light schedule. They flowered for 11 weeks under the hps. There were a few times where the heat got out of control and hit 100, so the heat resistance factor was definately tested. They had very little odor compared to other strains unless i actually touched them and smelled my fingers. 4 out of the 7 were females. one of them was a set of twins, the smaller one dying off. this plant displayed very strange branching and leaf growth but the bud was fine. it was a pain in the ass to fit in the space though. I did not clone this strain but based on branching it looks like it would clone well.

Nutes: Once they went into the big pots around 2 weeks they lived in foxfarm oceanforest. i started using big bloom half strength about a week before flower and tiger bloom started at 1/3 strength about 2 weeks into flower. i now regret not using the grow big in veg. i figured the strain being a light feeder and only spending 3 weeks or so in fresh oceanforest before flower would provide enough N, but i was wrong. Yellowing began in about week 5 and progressed much too quickly to get the yeild i had hoped for, but still not too shabby. I didn't help with my somewhat neglectful watering schedule. they got a bit too dry a time too many i think, but they are hardy motherfuckers for sure. They did show very slight nute burn when i inched past 1/2 strength nutes in about week 7. last 2 weeks watered with plain water and alternated w/molasses.

Yeild: Considering i screwed up the feeding a little and the droughts and the heat, the yeild was pretty damn good. They were flipped when they were about 5 inches and 3 of them yeilded a around 35 grams dry each. the 4th one was in a pot that was a little too small and only yeilded about 22 grams.

Bag Appeal: 6/10 The buds don't exactly scream dank but they look pretty nice. they are really pretty average looking buds but nothing most people would complain about.

The Smell: The smell during grow is pretty light. It's a sweet type of smell. One of them smelled like tooth decay when i touched it. it was so gross and so good at the same time. that smell went away over time. this one particular plant had the sweetest flower smell to it. once chopped they smelled like typical hay, and they smelled like that untill about the 2nd week of cure. now they smell like a subtle yet pungent sweet spice if that makes any sense. very pleasent but still not overpowering until it gets broken up.

The High. 8/10 I have a pretty high tolerance, so the fact that i got as high as i did is very impressive to me especially considering i paid 20 bucks for 10 seeds. It's definately more of an up type sativa high that takes a good 10 minutes to creep up. at first i was pissed because i didn't think i got high and then 20 minutes later i wished i didn't smoke so much. however if i sit and smoke and smoke and smoke it will knock me out. it doesn't seem to have a ceiling but too much will make you tired. It's great for listening to music, enjoying the beach, or anything creative. i really like it.

Comments: Everything the breeder said in the description was correct. The plants can obviously tolerate high heat, occasional droughts, ph issues and all sorts of whatnot. I think i could have gotten away with feeding them more in veg but i think i fed just right for the remainder of flower, which was about half strength. based on this i would try any of mandala's strains based on breeder claims. It was such an easy plant to grow and so hard to fuck up. i would grow it again anytime.

Here are some pics from throughout the grow. my camera died right around harvest time so the best pic i have is a pic of a nice cola about a week before chop. i just got an new camera so i missed pics of the bud hang drying which was a nice sight. Early in the grow i had another strain in the room but they were all male so just ignore those. The last pic i just selected some random cured buds to show in a pic. ignore the date stamp on that last one. it's obviously not september yet but i can't figure out this damn camera.

Nice writeup. I've been considering this strain for awhile, but the overly favorable breeders description seemed too good to be true.

i was worried about their seeds at first also, mostly because of the price being so cheap. but if you look through the threads there are a lot of really happy customers with good results, they seem real legit. i would like to try their hashberry on my next order.

Been hearing good things about Satori ever since Mandala created this strain. Going to run a few and look for a male to hit my Blue Thai (Dinafem) as well as my Orient express (Ace) ladies with it and likely produce some interesting sativa-dominant hybrids this year :blsmoke:
