Fan stronger than filter ?

I have a 8" inline fan that is rated at 720cfm and I bought a 8" carbon filter that fits well and seems to work fine but I had never checked the filter cfm rating and later found out the filter is only rated up to 650cfm, is this enough to cause problems or does sucking air through the filter slow the fan down enough to compensate?

The one I listed is $65. It is a variac. It controls voltage.

The cheap speed controllers start and stop the motor a few times a second. It is hard on motors and can make them humm.

The other option is to add a second filter. Suck in one, blow out the other. The second filter could be a cheap brand like ventech. That would cut the cfm that each filter gets and make them last longer.

I got two on mine. I got some cheese that stunk so bad I had to.

I've got one of the cheap speed controllers that is made by same company as the exhaust fan. Makes a humming noise if you barely move the speed controller up. Had them send a new one and it does same thing. Going to get a variac now. Thx
