Hello guys I got about 7 babies seedling stage (non-feminised) about 17 days total so far under a 600watt hps in a 6feet wide 6 feet tall and 4feet length and I been having insane troubles with the heat in this I have tried using two huge fans in there to keep the temperature down but im ranging from 90-100 even with the windows down and the temp being 35-45 degrees Fahrenheit I have my ballast outside my setup the reflector I have however is not air cooled tube I have been seeing those for 200 or so and thats not gunna go right as of now lol as well right now I am currently running a 16 inch oscilating fan in there point with door partly open to get the hot air out towards the cold air and thats not working still at about 93 degrees the plants dont seem to have been fried yet... they are all about 4-6 inches tall thus far and I need to get some answers of how to drop this temp down to 80 I have ducting that leads to an enclosed room in the basement it the ducting comes up from other room nomore than 5 feet or so from the closet I was wondering if there was a way to run that hot air out into the duct like sucking that hot air in like kirby whilst still keeping it cool I was thinking an air duct fan but im not very familiar with that any help would be appreciated I am trying to not spend a bunch of money im into this but I am open to ideas

Im in exact same position as you (growing in confined cupboard) only things that bought my temps below about 80 was adding an aircooled hood, combi ducting, 5" exhaust fan ( soon to be upgraded to 6") n 4" intake( soon to be 5"), also have the intake drawing air in from a room you can cool by opening a window etc

Lol down to eighty? You will still get a bunk crop running at eighty you need to be at seventy five so 86 is a far cry from that if you're in flower running an average of 80 85 you're growing plants that will unfortunately only amount to green hay, might look and smell good growing but when it dries....

Can you take pictures of your setup then ppl can help you more easily?

Also what equipment are you using? fans/lights etc etc as i didnt see any mention of exhaust or intake fans in your previous post

Also, posting more than once per 24hrs may speed things up significantly lol

Hey there guys yes in response im not flowering im barely getting into seedling stage im running an USHIO 600w opti red bulb with part blue spectrum and I heres some pictures I have that huge fan pointed towards outside the curtain to try to get that hot air out In one of the pictures I have air ducting that leads to an enclosed room in the basement which is pretty cool but its in a room across from my setup and there is only another couple feet up from the top of the ceiling in that closet so I dont know if cutting a hole in it would work and I am not sure about these inline fan/ exhaust fan ordeals I have been reading a lot but its very confusing to me maybe Im just stupid I dont know the one with the messy room is the room across from the closet sorry for mess I store most of my shit in there and phone picture quality is bad I know but should give you guys an idea

If u have a window unit you could run that to cool things down ...I suggest u do it the right way and get a cool tube/inline fan ...measure the size of the hole in the ducting you have ...go on eBay and buy just a cool tube of the same size opening ..this shouldn't be more than $20 for just the tube(no bulbs or ballast) then again buy the same size inline fan on ebay or Amazon buy a ventech inline fan they are the cheapest shouldn't be more than 35-40... Total cost $60 and problem solved..also with 7 plants I hope you have a plan for odor control ..ventech has an inline fan/ carbon filter combo on eBay that you might want to look at ..I know it's more money upfront but it's well worth it ..you will need it

Also wanted to add I run a ventech combo myself..I thought my homemade carbon filter would work on one plant but it failed badly and you could smell my girl standing outside my house in the middle of the street.. I ordered a ventech combo immediately and the smell dissapated in a few days it works great..don't wait like I did if smell is a concern

Ok, first off simply shut down the 600 for now.. Get some compact flouros that say daylight on the package. Keep em close maybe 4 inches up so you're plants stay tight.. You can grow like this adding wattage where you see fit you do not need the hps until flower. I would mylar the walls if you have a couple extra bucks but the important thing is ventilation if you're ok with cutting a hole and going into the attic/ceiling I recommend doing that and using a carbon filter and can fan, looking at about 160-200 bucks. What is your plan for light proofing, there's only a curtain in front of your room? Are the surrounding rooms light free? You can also open the curtain to disperse the heat... I don't fully understand your room just some ideas...

.. Otherwise if your room is pretty open your best bet is an enclosed hood. This way you can send the heat wherever you like. Heat rises keep the basement door open if you can. Little things like that can help

started with CFLS for two weeks actually but not enough light i was putting out about 200 watts or so just for seedlings and I couldnt get enough light coverage I already committed to this HPS light want to at least get the experience with it I was looking at an inline fan/carbon filter combo I can fit in the ducting and I think ill be okay I just dont want to be disrespectful to neighbors but its just for me

Little update for you guys I added an inline fan from which I got at home depot runs about 90cfm I unfortunately had to pull one of the babies couldnt resistate her but I was able to resistate the other 3 that had pretty yellow leaves on them getting good leaves and growing strong stems on them I am currently at about 20 percent humidity and 85 degrees average the last few days a lot happier I think in a couple weeks ill invest in that carbon filter from smell removal that little room in basement is cold so its pumping cold air into the closet so that dropped it about 15-20 degrees right there and ive been leaving the window open to circulate air in there today marks 3rd week since germination so I am happy with my results right now thanks for the help guys
