Gorilla Glue #4 in Michigan

Overrated?? What was that troll?
Likely a conversation starter by 941mick, but the content of that thread tells a different story by many experienced and credible growers. GG4 is definitely no hyped up bullshit strain pimped by a seed company and fools for cash, say like Trainwreck, TGA and Subcool. Has there been any other strain in our history simply shared freely among friends, NOT marketed by a seed company, to receive such notoriety and awards? I believe that question answers itself ...

That's a nice fat bud there.

Speaking of fat buds I'm really starting to want to do a DIY cob setup after looking at all captain Morgan's buds lol.

Pretty expensive and would probably take a year to actually break even on your power bill but the lure of not having to constantly buy bulbs seems like it would be worth it by itself if I could come close to my yields with HPS.

You'll kill HPS, didn't you hear?

Lol yeah I'll believe it when I see it with my own eyes. I'd like to give it a try though.

I need enough to cover about a 10x10 area for a test run. Guessing that'll probably cost $1000 or so which I don't mind if it's worth it and will cut down on heat and I can keep the same yields.

My main concern was always light penetration for LEDs and the made in China crap you can buy from the store. These DIY ones look pretty promising, looks like penetration is not a problem anymore.

Think for a 10x10 area you might be looking at 4 grand. Now I'm seeing all these double harvests and I'm like what the fuck? I cant do that.....

I dunno, from what I was reading I saw some that claim a 5x5 footprint for $600-700. Maybe I was doing some poor research  wouldn't be the first time.

I've been looking around the last few days, looks like the yields are good but no good directions for big lights. I've worked with LEDs in the past so in comfortable that I could throw some together quickly. Just need to do more research on a good design.

Haven't seen anything in 7-8 hundo range for a 5' x5' ... But its for sure doable in a diy led build... I bet by this time next year there is a commercial cob light for around that price that covers a 5 x 5 .. The LEDs definitely produce denser bud and higher quality.

Whats a commercial cob light?

I spend about $80 a sq/ft to build my new lights. But that is a passive cooled unit driven very soft and built for max efficiency.
What do you think is a good estimate of what something covering a 10x10 are would cost. I could even go smaller at two 4x4 fixtures. This would really be just a test run to see if it's worth it for me to invest more money. If it's just ungodly expensive I might go the polar opposite and go buy a few gavitas and run my bill through the roof

Either that or if I was hell bent on spending 5k on LEDS I'd rather go buy the Apaches that are already built and not waste my time.

I haven't actually seen or smoked anything that's been flowered under LED, right now my curiosity is being fueled only by these journals I'm seeing lol. Maybe I should just turn a blind eye for now and just proceed with business as usual.

The density is ridiculous, My buddies grow closet harvests but same strain under my 1k waters is noticeable.. Its a better product..no bullshit... Im kinda worried about mold ..that's how dense these nugs are

Damn. So you're using LEDs at the moment? Cobs?

I've got a 400 watt light my buddy built.. I traded him 3 zips of jabbas stash for it.. But the buds are filling in WAY denser than I'm used to..and its a dense plant to begin with( small yielding strain) My RH is @ 50%

Oh yeah you're playing with fire.

I had my humidity a little high too as the temps outside started to drop. I raised the temp in the room by restricting my exhaust and added a dehumidifier. Now I'm on the other side, humidity is low as hell like 20% sometimes. Can't seem to find a happy medium lately.

I would like to build a 400-600 at least just to try one out side by side with an HPS.

Haven't seen one just yet, but it will be here soon.. A replacement for a 1k watt hps light that's commercially available @ reasonable cost. I liken Led lights to led TV s... The TVs have made every other TV obsolete.. I'd be shocked if the lights didn't do the same in the next 3-5 years

Hey guys I'm not in Michigan but I have a question about my gg#4? She came from bag seed from a very remote grow. Not much chance of cross pollination. Also I have heard the original gg#4 was a hermaphrodite so it's pretty common to find seeds. I started her indoor and she always had this leaf twist it used to only twist which ever way the fan was pointed. Now she seems twisted all over and the internodels are super close together. She has red streaks on the stems. And she's in the ground in the same garden\soil as all my other plants. I'm just curious if this is normal? Relative humidity has been 0-20%IMG_20180702_175754.jpg
