Neither. With 4 per driver its either way. If you wanted to run higher efficiency then 36v. If you wanted to run higher wattage per cob then 72 volt. 4 per hlg185 it will make no difference really. I'd go 72v so you could add a few shaker LEDs like 660 or something.

You said "neither" though so is there a different setup that you would suggest?

You need to decide how hard you want to drive your COBs and whether you want a single driver for each COB or a larger driver to drive multiple COBs.Then you can match the COB to the driver. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Seems like Realstyles likes to run his lights more soft so they last a lot longer, then.

Which route would you go? I don't necessarily like the idea of "overclocking" my lights.. seems like a quicker way to shoot your $700 investment when the main goal is to offset the huge investment with lower electricity bills over a long period of time.

Guess I like to run em' soft.

What do you suggest then?

Sounds like you need to do some reading so you can make a informed choice rather than having someone tell you what to use. SupraSPL has some great threads on drivers, heatsinks, reflectors and more. You may want to build your light to suit your grow style and environment. Single drivers are safer to work with than larger ones that drive several COBs if that's a concern.Passive or active cooled, reflectors or lenses or bare, soldered or solderless, there are many choices to make.

You also need to decide on the color temp of the COB depending on what you want the light for. If it's strictly for flower you would want 3000k or 3500k,if for veg maybe 5000k and if you want it for both veg and flower 4000k. The strains you prefer may also affect your color decision,Sativa or Indica or Hybrid.

well I'm going to flower in the tent and setup a vegging cabinet.

So I'll run the tent at 4k however I've heard 5k may be better on this forum by Supra.

Ideas for a cheap vegging COB setup? You'd only need like 2 COBs for vegging two plants, right?

Bonjour
Is English's your first language?
Are you sure Supraspl said that 4000ºk or 5000ºk is better for blooming!?!?
Cause 3500ºk is the best choice for blooming imo!
And 5000ºk is for vegg!
What size of tent for bloom and what size for vegg? It will be easier to help you for the vegg lamp if we knew that!
Have a great day ★
