NOTICE OF MARIJUANA TAX WORKSHOP
A CALL FOR PUBLIC DIALOGUE AND FEEDBACK
TheDepartment of Revenue is soliciting public feedback relating to marijuana excise tax payment methods during a public workshop. At this time, the department does not have a method in place to accept cash for marijuana tax payments.The department is not currently aware of any financial institution in Alaska that will be doingbusiness withthe marijuana industry. Therefore, taxpayers will be forced to make payments in cash.Unlike other states with marijuana taxes, the department does not have the infrastructureor resourcesto accept cash payments. The department isseeking input on how to make thesystem work since taxes still need to be paid. Any person who has an interest in doing business in the marijuana industry should attend, including but not limited to growers, manufacturers, and retailers.
