Another annoying "is it ready to harvest?" thread (my first and last one I promise)

Ok so, this is my first grow. And I I know that most people only look at the color of the trichomes for harvest. I came across this http://tehbosh.blogspot.ca/2010/04/harvest-time-or-is-it.html this was originally a thread here in rollitup but the photos were deleted.

So here the thing is, I decided to flower my plants with a 10/14 schedule because I read it would improve yield and potency in a book I have. But apparently it only shortens the flowering period and reduces both yields and potency. So I switched it back to 12/12 gradually during the 4th week after 10/14. Now my plants are in the middle of week 7 from 10/14. Apparently most strains take at least a week more to mature than what the grower says. I have a 7 weeks strain and an 8 week one. Do they look ready to harvest? The trichomes look a bit too clear to me but the buds seems swollen and most pistils are dark.

Thank you very much in advance for your advice

i would pull them.. they look wonderful imo
Great thanks! I was surprised to see purple appearing on my Dance World plants. I was not sure if it was some deficiency caused by flushing or natural color. I might give them an extra week just to make sure.

It's my first grow and I experimented a lot. more than I should have loll. I switched from 270w of cfls to a 100w actual draw Led light 2 weeks ago and I think they loved it.

A USB scope is great to have. No more guessing. They are less than $30. Best tool I have bought. Supereyes is good on amazon.

I have to compliment your grow. Really nice looking plants. What light source are you using?

It looks like you could wait a little, it is incredible how your buds can fatten up at the end. The amount of weeks stated by the seller is approximately what it takes, each plant, even coming from the same pack will not finish exactly like the next.
So treat each plant separately and you will yield more.

thank you very much! I used cfls for the majority if the grow and switched to a led light from advanced platinum 2 weeks ago. i used the 12-1 gas lantern routine for the vegetative period. I think it worked well. in the beginning I got some deficiencies and ph problems which i fixed.

Those look great man. Def look ready too chop IMO. But then again I like mine more on the cloudy side rather than more amber. Comes down too personal preference to be honest

Thanks! I think since this is my first grow I will let them go a bit longer to see the complete cycle so next time I know what to expect and if I want to harvest earlier.

This is my grow space. I got a super cheap cabinet from a random guy and I DIY'd the hell out of it. I built the CFL lamp and reflectors, I made these black things to keep light from coming in and out. I would say it's not super stealth though, there are light leaks and my DIY carbon filter at the top is not extremely efficient. And the fans can be heard in the room. But my landlord doesn't come in my bedroom so it's alright. grow space.jpg

Thanks! I like the idea of a tent. It's a closed environment but it's light and easy to transport. Are hempy buckets hydro? I have this dilemma with plant size. I don't know if it's better to have fewer big plants or more small plants. I don't know if there's a calculation to make for plant size, vegetation time, and yield for a certain fixed grow space and lights. There's also the price of seeds, or max number of clones. There must be an advantage to growing fewer bigger plants, like the fact that they are not only wider than smaller plants but they are also taller so there is longer bud sites. But it wouldn't work for CFLs since they need to be super close to the canopy.

However if you are in a 3x3 tent I guess it would be better to have 4 plants since it's a square space. You will have a more efficient coverage with the roots and branches.

I started my new plants in coco coir with coco nutrients from Canna. I want to invest in a DIY run to waste system so I can leave the apartment for many days. It sucks to be stuck here all the time..

I can help you setup a self feeding Hempy bucket (passive hydro) for pretty cheap. Depending on the size of rezivoir you can have sitting near by you could leave for a week and ud be fine. Send me a pm n I can send you links too everything ud need n pretty detailed instructions lol.

Love the cab... Looks great.

The hardest thing about that type of door is sealing the crack where the doors meet, right? I have a similar veg space. Leaks all kinds of light :)

exactly! i have some foam things in the cracks and it helps a bit but the light is so strong that it still leaks.

What I was thinking of doing is taking off the doors, cutting out a piece of plywood to cover the frame then glue the doors to the plywood so it still looks like a regular cabinet.

That's really smart. Would you use hinges on the plywood so It's like a regular door?

I finally harvested 5 days ago my two bigger dance world plants and dried the buds. I was pretty disapointed because I thought i'd be getting more buds than that. I have 24g with the two plants together when I was hoping for an ounce per plant. Oh well! Not bad for a first grow I guess.dance world 09-12 cu.jpg dance world 09-12.jpg
