New lightning

Hello again everyone! Hope you all are having a good time.

So I vegged these two ladies for 90 days with only CFL's (215W in total). They've been in flower for 6 days.

By the way my phone camera sucks big time, this picture is too dark and doesn't reflect reality.

A few days ago I made a thread here asking opinions about this LED panel I ordered.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300W-IR-Full-Spectrum-LED-Grow-Light-Panel-For-Medical-Indoor-Veg-Flower-Plants-/271564432614

Since people mostly had doubts about how it will perform, I decided to add it with the CFL's (about 170W). That will say I have 470W of lightning currently running for flower, 300W IR LED grow light panel, 110W CFL blue spec, 23W LED grow light and 2x 23W CFL's. I am wondering will these perform well enough? I am aiming on atleast semi-good quality bud with taste (no fluffy, bad tasting buds). Now I know nobody can tell or predict percisely, but based on your experiences of using different types of LIGHTNING (lets pretend every other factor is OK, nutes etc) what would YOU EXPECT? Shitty or decent bud? I will post updates with pictures when the time comes.

Any replies are much appreciated!

Happy growing and smoking everyone!

They look great.
How much heat does the LED add to the grow space? Just wondering.

Get that LED closer. It's only 3w diodes. 1 ft above canopy should be good. just make sure it's not burning the leaves with the 90 degree lenses.

There is nothing wrong with mixing light sources. I like adding CFL to LED. I might ditch the small LED grow light unless it does something special. Or aim it at your best cola.

I'd like to see the CFLs really close to the canopy and spread out so that you have the LED in the center of the canopy and say 8 23w CFLs evenly spaced across the canopy. That gives you around 300w of light for two plants which should be just fine.

You want the CFL's to hang horizontally. They throw light from the sides. Use an extension chord and hang it from the top of tent. Then get the cheap little socket adapters that have a plug on one end. Plug a bulb into each side of extension chord.

Hello sunny I appreciate your reply!

Only with the CFL's my room temperature was 26 degrees celsius that will say 79 degrees fahrenheit, with the LED combined it's 30 degrees celsius.

Nice to hear I assume you've tried it out. You read my mind I actually use the 23w LED for 2 colas, it doesn't do anything extraordinary but it works I guess.

The picture is lying quite a lot, the CFL's are as close as possible and I keep moving them everyday a little bit since the plants are growing crazy fast. Yeah my idea from the beginning was to have the "main" light source in the middle and the smaller ones spread out to give the sides some extra light as illustrated in the picture. I got some more 23W cfl bulbs I will add but first I need to get some more extension chords :D Unfortanetly I dont have a tent since im doing a stealth grow in my closet and that sucks. Do you have any ideas of how to hang the cfl bulbs horizontally in a closet?

Yea, use these to plug into an extension chord and hang the chord just like you are already...

Your LED pulls 165w that plus 160 w of CFL should be just fine..

Tie down the branches s little bit to fill out the space and get a nice canopy. You will do just fine.

What's your plan for odor control?
I see maybe I should give it a try.

Alright good to hear that, it gives hope since I've mostly got doubtful answers when it comes to my lightning setup.

I will definetly try to tie them down. I get the idea of doing that but how exactly do you tie them down? Ofcourse I could just google..

When it comes to odor control, I have thought about buying an active carbon filter though Im not sure yet since the main reason why I bought this strain was of its low odor and high yield. Even though I've read during flowering cannabis can smell up a 2 story house, thats sick. Are you convinced it will smell like crazy later on? If so I gotta hurry and come up with something. Im still a rookie and dont know how to install an active carbon filter. Thank god there's google though

Alright I watched a couple instruction videos of how to tie down a cannabis plant.

I will definetly buy better lights in the future.

Happy growing!
Look into supercropping. It's awesome and most strains seem to love it. Cannabis I find can be treated pretty rough.

Yeah I've topped these two 4-5 times and supercropped then topped them once again. Im thinking about tying her down tomorrow for a nice canopy as sunny suggested
Sounds good. Or put a screen above it to scrog it. I've had great success scrogging. Now that I have a 1k bulb for flowering I have stopped scrogging. But it's grey if you have limited light.

Yeah I am really interested in scrogging. I have to use my "rookie engineering skills" and find a way how to setup a screen in my closet. Would be a lot easier to do it in a tent though.

Do you guys think I could tie it down and then scrog incase it has any benefits doing both?

Yip sure can do both. Although that's basically what the screen does. Just go to your local gardening store and they will have a screen to scrog more than likely.

I'm not a fan of HPS or MH for grow lighting. If you want a good light source for cheap, research 860W CDM lamps. These provide excellent spectrum and plenty of power for growing. Cheap, too!
