Newly built 600w hps Closet grow cab 46''x55''x27"

Hello fellow growing community.
I have just finished up this closet grow cab. My overall goal was to have the cabinet blend in, as of course just a regular house hold cabinet. No light leaks, (still filling some gaps) and no smell where the biggies. As far as noise, the cab is in a spare room where I also have small veggies and herbs growing under a t5 in a low pressure aeroponics setup, along with one extractor fan. So the cab noise fits nicely.

The temps have been reasonable, I keep my house at around 79f degrees and it stays about 84-89 in the cab, humidity is 10%-18% since that little space is being vented by a 6in exhaust fan.

The custom dimensions I used made it so I did have a considerable amount of waste. Which is expected when doing custom stuff. Maybe I'll turn it into some garage shelves.

The material:
3 4'x8' sheets of 3/4" Plywood (furniture kind not that rough stuff.)
24' 1x4" common board
1/2" pvc (scrog)
garden string (scrog)
4 hidden door hinges (expensive!)
Weather stripping (doors)
1 1/4" wood screws (assembly)
5/8 wood screws (door hinges)
1 1/4" finish nails. (Face frame)
1 can dark stain.
15' flexible 6" exhaust duct
left over mylar
About $250 total
(Already had the 600w hps, fan and air pump)

I put a 6" inline exhaust fan in the attic that goes down behind 2 closet shelves into the cab that cools the 600w hps. The fan pulls through a 6"x16" air scrubber first, then the fan throws air out of a vent in my roof (already existing). Took me about 4 days to do everything.

The young lady growing is from nirvana seed bank, Wonder Woman feminized, in a bubbleponics setup. Running General Hydroponics nutes. Switching to 12/12 today. :)

Looks great man awesome job. Blends in great. Maybe to cover up that ducting on top u can use a empty box an cut the bottom out an place the box over the ducting or cut the ducting down even with the top of the cab? Just throwing it out there. If u keep updates I'll for sure be watching this one.

Looking nice and clean man!
Just a powerhouse using that 600 hps in there.
I am watching too!
Have you done it before in a cab of that dimension?

I hope the buds will not grow into the lamp imo the headspace over the lamp is realy not much.

I'll be keeping updates for sure. As far as head space for the lamp to go up, I have 16 inches from the top of the scrog net to the bottom of the lamp when it's up as high as it can go. I'm hoping that's enough. First time growing in these demensions, I'm use to a 5x5x7 grow tent. Next grow I might have to lower the scrog net by 3 or 4 inches. I'll just have to keep tucking the plant in the net through the flower stretch and hope for the best. I do have a dimmable ballast so if the plant does get to close I can turn it down to 75 percent so she doesnt burn up. Even though I hope I wont. Don't want to affect yeild.

16" should be ok for a strain with lil stretch. I hope all the best for you! Cant wait to see the show going on.
You said this strain ya got from nirvana....back in the days in my first decade of growing I had a hindu kush plant from nirvanas seeds selected from just 10 seeds and this female was fire. I spent a whole bundle of dollars to find something compareable to her from many so called reputable breeders and it took me nearly 9 years and 100's of seeds germinated to find something that came close. The plant did only a minimal stretch in flower because she was very-pure indica. I think for your setup a pure indica kush kind of plant would be ideal. May pakistan chitral kush or afghan or hindu kush ....
just my 2 cents

UPDATE:
It has been 1 week since I flipped the lights to 12/12. Growth is going nice and strong, plant looks good and healthy. I did some tucking and trimming today. I just cut off the baby branches at the way bottom that where not going to amount to anything, and also some of the bigger fan leaves blocking some bud sites towards the middle. I have also raised the HPS light as high as it can go, (without modding the metal hangers).

UPDATE: begin week 3.
So plant growth has exploded a little more than expected, but still managable, might use some twisty ties to help keep the plant tops a little further down. They are only 4 inches away from the hps glass... little close for comfort, but so far no signs of stress or burns. (The 6in exauhst working like a champ, and it's a cheaper light bulb, apollo)
Started sprouting hairs 4 or 5 days ago. Still running General hydroponics nutes 3part at full strenght on their schedule and also using their Floralicious Plus at the recommended 1tsp per 5 gal. Cant wait to see how fat these colas get!!!

UPDATE: Beginning week 4!!
So this plant just keeps stretching. Has stretched easily more than 2x it's size, the light is now 19" above the scrog net and she is still almost touching it. Must be Sativa dominant, the leaves are of the thinner type also.
The ends of one leaf started to curl and turn brown because of how close to the light it was getting, (it was also directly under the bulb). The metal hangers that came with the light are 4in long so I had to come up with a way to get light as high up as possiple. I accomplished this by using zip ties, I think they are plenty strong enough. (Check the pictures) I also added a 6" clip fan to help keep the top of the canopy as cool as possible.
She is also one thirsty plant. Drinking about 5 gal every two days. And the ppm's are staying within about 300 while the water lvl drops. Trichomes are forming and the smell up close is getting nice and almost sweet like. :)

Remember my first concern?
Is there a way to get the actual top off of the cab to place the light higher. Only thing I could think of for emergency if the girl keeps on stretching.
your cab is great bro but you realy have to know your strain real good.

I hope that all is going well and you have some great buds at the end.

Hows about thc production?

Yes I can remove the top pretty easily, held on by some wood screws (no glue, just in case I needed to mod anything after or during the grow) :). And i have plenty of scrap to make the cab taller, most likely it will be a temporary extension piece to come in handy in situations like these.

All of the Wonder Woman grows I've read about have had minimal stretching, but I think I just got one with more sativa heavy genetics. I have a few more seeds of WW, hopefully one of those will be good enough to keep a lineage going.

Thanks for the good wishes! and you cant really see the trichomes in the picture, but they are filling out the leaves pretty nicely. Ill try remembering to take a picture as soon as the lights turn out tonight.

Thats good man so all will be good.

I asked for thc production because I believe it will explode when the light is that close.

So the plants started to touch the light yet again yesterday. :wall: So this morning I added 8 inches of head space by removing the top and adding side wall extension pieces, then stained them and put the top back on. I finally got to use my mini table saw!! :hump: see pics. This should give plenty of room to finish up flowering. Three of the colas were burned on the tops. The one in the picture was the worst, but I have so many more bud sites that it shouldn't affect anything to much, positive thoughts. :joint:

Also thank you Gbuddy for sparking up this idea!!

Nice work!

I would keep an eye on the burned tops...they are stressed now and maybe they throw bananas at you. Maybe.

Keep up the good job I can see some dank coming your way man :bigjoint:

I love it man! Love the way you stained it to make it seem rustic. Awesomeness bro. You got some mega skills and creativity.

A few years back I saw a cab close to your dimensions with a 400w sog. Cant remember if the guy had 6 or 8 plants growing in it but the result was awsome bcuz the light realy covers the entire canopy.
he started from clones. Nearly no vegtime. Ended up with enormous single headbuds on each plant (ak47).
Imagine what your 600watter would do....
