the only good ones are built ones, and its too much tinkering and worry for me, after several trips thru the forum sharing your thought.... i stick with my air cooled hps system.... maybe in another 5yrs LEDs will be ready...

I dont disagree at all. Love HID. But do hope to get some input from users. May consider building my own. Also thinking about Plasma lighting.

I too have been looking at LED, trying to cut the massive heat created by my HP's. There are so many company's competing against each other, it's hard to decipher what's what. I'm been doing my homework for a couple of weeks and am no better off now than I was when I started. This site has some promise: http://opticgrowlights.com/led-grow-lights.html.

I also came across this: http://ledgrowlightguide.com/current-top-rated-led-grow-lights

The best thing I believe you can do is start researching other's grows using the different brands and follow their comments. Do not listen to the company's advertising. Look for a no-questions-ask 90 day return policy which the better ones offer, including a super long warranty between 3-5 years. If a company has the confidence both of these, they must have some confidence in their products. Lastly, don't buy the cheap chinese crap lights on Ebay, or you'll be sorry eventually!

I keep wondering is plasma isn't the way to go.........no pentetration continues to be most peoples negative comments about LED. If you click on the optic light link I posted, they state they've taken care of that problem by incorporating magnifying lenses which allows for a deeper penetration but I've yet to find one grow report using these. I emailed the company asking for any links they may have showing these in action.....no reply ye

Go to the led section. Lost of good and lots of shitty led companies. You will get better answers there.

Best

Diy cobs - cree cxb / cxa , Vero 29 /18
Pacific lighting concepts
Inda Gro
Apache tech
Amare technologies
Area 51 led
Hans led.

All other led companies are crap.

Then for hid

315w lec cmh
Philips 860w allstart cmh
Gavita hps

Everything else is crap.

Thanks Root. Pretty much a list of what I have been looking at. Thinking about just doing a DIY LED add on to my HID. Add some more UV and Blue to the Ushio DE. Or maybe just T-5 UV/Blue addition. Also still looking into Plasma. I have gotten some first hand info on the Rocket. Interesting for sure.

Well I have decided to go with a Plasma. Still researching the few brands that are out there. Going to do a comparison grow between the Plasma and 1000DE HPS this fall. Inda Grows induction paired with the LED pontoon looked interesting. But right now it appears to me you get more bang for your buck with the Plasma.

White leds are the best thing going now. Many growers are having extraordinary results with them. Hyroot gave a good list of some of the best. He is also highly respected in the led section.

I can honestly tell you that if I were you I would go with HID over LED. I grew with top of the line led( area 51) and was not impressed. Don't get me wrong you can get some super nice frosty trees from leds but they just weren't for me. I found that my stalks were thin and weak growing with them. Also I was in a grow tent running co2 so heat became a problem believe or not. I will stick with my 1000w ballast w/ 8in raptor hood and use the leds as side or extra lighting.
O by the way area 51 and apache tech are great leds. I also hear black dog led are pretty good
