my t5 setup

I have a 2 foot 8 bulb t5 setup maxing out at 193 watts. Its using 4 6500K bulbs and 4 3000K bulbs. I have roughly 24 inches from top of soil to bottom of reflector and right under the reflector I'm hitting about 88-90 degrees and halfway down I'm around 82-86 during the middle of the summer 115 degree heat outside.

I know i can LST to keep it down but would running the 3000k bulbs keep them shorter or would that impact overall veg growth in general and not be a good idea for max plant potential? Wondering if i should go 8 6500K bulbs for veg or not then add in the 3000K when i flip.

Thanks in advance

Here is my space 35Lx15Wx40H. Its inside a bedroom closet. 24 inches from top of 3 gallon bucket to the reflector. temp at 84 as i just turned the lights off for the pic. I can gain another inch if i swap out the tall metal light hanger brackets for something shorter. This closet is not light proof and i leave the door open for air flow. Im aiming to run autoflowering only but will try a photo strain as well. The other side of the closet has a lot more height and hopefully come cooler time of the year i can get a 400 watt HID in there.

the 6500k will keep the nodes closer keeping the plants shorter, it has more blue in it and the blue affects the hormons that make it grow taller, so yes i would do 8 6500k for veg then 6 3000k for flower with 2 6500k to level out spectrum.

Thanks buddy, now i just need to get some real fans and get the hot air out of the closet!

i don t know how to quote yet, but, if you run air across the t5 bulbs it will keep it much cooler, yeah it will put off some heat into the rooom but like you said get some fans in there and get that hot air out, i have built several t5 setups for my reef tank, ended up going led, and i think the led put off way more heat to be real, i have 500w on a big heatsink and it easily hits 200F with two fans on, it. i know t5 dont get that hot.

Run a mix. On my 4 foot 8 bulb I run 50/50 mix. My first run I flowered with all 6500. You will need heavy LST in that space. You need those temps a little lower. T5's are actually quite hot. Try to extract it somehow or use a fan blowing up on the bulbs.

Yep extraction is what i need to figure out. Im leaning towards a tent that fits in my closet space and installing exhaust fan and extracting from tent directly through ceiling and then into addict. Im just afraid I will need a portable AC to keep ambient temps down outside otherwise i will just be intaking 77-80 degree ambient room temps. I can do the same extraction method without a tent of course.

Why not just mount the fan to the ceiling of the closet and not use the tent since you're knocking a hole anyways. The extra height will help.

My closet is not light tight (sliding doors) therefore if I wanted to use photo strains I risk light getting into the closet, also for overall stealth and being able limit the stank only to the tent and filter it out. Im just a cheap bastard right now and that more of my dream setup i have drawn up.
