What causes it tho?
I think Nutes and Nugs is likely correct.. I've had some cucumbers just up and die like this and it was cutworms, try gently pulling on the stalk of the plant at the base and see if it's still attached.
Its been raining non stop a soaking is probably the last thing they need.
Havent seen any bugs but i will take a closer look. How do i deal with cutworms if this is indeed the issue?
An old timer told me to take both ends off a can and put the can partway into the ground and plant your seeds/starts inside of it. The cutworms get right at the base or right underneath the soil, they cut right through the entire stalk.
Yeah I've never saved a plant from cutworms. Could be something else entirely, sounded logical though, in my experience the cutworms chew off the entire stalk and the plant is detached at the base.
Ive done some more reading and it seems to me like it might be bacterial wilt caused by beetles. Unfortunately there is no saving them once the wilt sets in. Just do my best to battle the beetles(which i havent actually seen but it all adds up) and hope it doesnt spread to my other plants.
I haven't actually seen any beetles but plan to treat the remaining plants as precautionary measure. Im sad to say that this doesnt seem like a perk up at night situation. Definitely getting proggesivly worse and dying off.
