Haha. I believe you could have utilized that extra 630ish light of the lower CRI versions into yield. But you might prefer looking at your plants than looking at your power bill. For me the 3500k 80CRI are already a huge improvement over HPS in terms of exposure, but I'm no photographer. Make sure to take some nice pictures.

Hi all,

My next order is on route, 6 more Vero29 v2 3000K / 80cri (BXRC-30E-10K0-L-23), a MW HLG-185H-C1050A, some heatsinks and some 140mm computer fans. I can't wait to give all this light to my precious girl. I would like to take a couple of 4000K but digikey is out of stock till July... It's a bummer but i can live with that.

Lmao, looks like we got a fish on the line! I've never bothered with HPS or HID lighting in general, but I see and agree with what you're saying.

Unlike those whom will lose sleep over those few percentage points of light their lamps are putting out, I'll sleep easy knowing my plants will be demonstrating their yield under a tropical sun.
Of course I prefer to look at MJ plants rather than an electricity bill :dunce: but worry not, those extra $15 a month will be offset in no time. On top of that, it's a huge step forward from my Cree XTE warm white lamp I built a couple years ago.

I'd enjoy reading about why that extra "630ish" wavelength in lower CRI versions would mean more yield. That also must mean you have a spectral distribution chart/graph for v2 V18s @90CRI (I've been unable to find one)?

The plants will be picturesque under my lamp, I'll capture that so you can rest assured~

Well, I didn't mean to provoke defiance. I seriously acknowledge your preferences, which I assumed were beautifully looking plants. I now see you are part of the Spectrum Religion, but I grant you the right to believe in whatever you want. There are many growing religions around and that's fine. I try to keep it as pragmatic as possible, which in our case translates to: More light, less heat, low-as-possible cost - for which I rely on this analysis and these numbers.

I am confident, however, that your light will still outperform a lot of competing systems, that your plants will look gorgeous and the produce will have very high quality. Good luck!

I thought the "spectrum religion" comment was a good one. I don't dispute that more photons is what the efficiency game is about, never have. I made a joke of efficiency-nazis and my 90CRI COBs and you were the only one who took it seriously~

What's funnier is your "holier than thou" attitude... Though this is expected of someone with the handle "Meinolf":rolleyes:

See, English is not my first language, so I try to make myself as clear as possible. I just commented on your plan "to piss those select few people off" and raised the serious question, if your choice wasn't about electricity savings but visuals since it seemed irrational. You stated that you bought 90CRI for being able to sleep easy knowing your light resembles "a tropical sun", which is even more irrational in my eyes. I wouldn't invest that amount of money in a joke. I suspect you don't sleep well realising that you dumped money, so you came here to discharge your frustration by making fun of "efficiency-nazis" and other peoples names.

We could get back on track by discussing the perks of a leveled spectral intensity. Maybe you have got new evidence that it influences the plant or produce in a certain, desirable way. I'd be open to that.

I applaud your English as it is but it definitely needs work. You mistake that I'm comparing my light to a tropical sun (LMAO), I will actually be flowering my plants under the tropical sun and not under this lamp.

It seems that your "serious question" wasn't posed as a question at all but I'll answer it anyway: I am curious and I need good quality pictures for what I'll be doing in my grow space.

"That amount" of money... You mean the $50 it cost me for brand new COBs? Almost every thing else (driver, fans, heatsinks, etc.) are leftover materials that cost me nothing meaning this build cost me $75 (bought a box of wago connectors and PICO-ezmates) including shipping. It would seem the joke is on you buddy, this lamp will serve my vegetative plants beyond what I really need it to. You might be right though, I may have many sleepless nights ahead of me knowing I invested in a lamp that will last me the better part of a decade at a reasonable efficiency and price.:roll:

I came to post a picture of my lamp to show thanks to those in this thread and those whom helped me put it together. I can't be "discharging frustration" if your piss poor english is making me more frustrated LOL. I made a joke about nit-picky people or "efficiency-nazis" as it was later dubbed, about how they're so critical of every detail. I didn't mention any person in particular (and like I already said: it was a joke) but you came along and Grandma always said "if the shoe fits, let them wear it"~

If you could elaborate on what "leveled spectral intensity" means then perhaps. I have no "new evidence" to support anything as I didn't come here claiming anything about spectral distribution vs light intensity or anything along those lines for that matter. You have been evading my two simple questions and I've been quick in answering yours.

Hi,

Right now i use ~80W of Vero 4000k and two 80W Hans panel for support. And i aim for a good 300W COB only for this tent (80*80*180cm) and a little more when i will use it in my 1M² tent.

Here is day 54 of flower, my prize plant, the other 5 were hermies and I don't want to take the time to try to snap some half decent pictures.

Light is pretty bright, couldn't get find a combination that looked half decent, so decided to leave the four 3500k Vero's on and white-balanced to 'incandescent' and it looks a little better, haha. I think I posted day 37 a few pages back if you are curious.

Starting to fade out, backing off on the nutes and I think I hit a little potassium def. no biggy, shouldn't have more then a week or so left, right?

Pretty low temps at night, usually gets to about 67-68 degrees Fahrenheit. Getting some nice purple hues in all my plants. ;)

About the size of a water bottle now, can barely fit my hand around the cola and it is extremely dense, excited to see what I can get off this plant as I have 7 clones vegging under some 4000k Vero's now. :hump:

hello all my Vero loving friends, so i built a 8 x ~75 W mixed vero 29 (4 x 3000K(80 CRI) ,4 x 4000K(90 CRI) , pushing a whopping ~600w my friend is loving it as i built it for him, but now he has a problem, his plants are yellowing hard a F*** he had this same problem when he moved from a 1000w MH to a 1000W Super HPS. under CFL and MH they are GREEN and LUSH and thick, and as soon as they are switched over to HPS they begin yellowing and this is still under the same 24 HR light cycle...what gives? its a hydro system with a constant 5.8-6.2 PH. PPM ~1200 roots are lush, water chiller...what gives???? RO water with added CALiMag...i dont get it???

Anything to cut down on the variables will help find the problem!

I am running ~460w of Brideglux COB's in a 3x3 about 24" above the canopy and my plants don't seem to mind at all. Running soil though. :neutral:

Sure they are not just N. deficient?

Using LEDS/COBS triggers higher levels of nutrient consumption for plants, therefore leading to startling deficiencies for new users who are unknowing to this.

If they are yellow, I'd think it was something to do with the lack of available magnesium and/or calcium.

Hey guys just want to confirm before I order I'm looking to use this driver HLG-185H-C1400A to run 5 Vero 18's 3500k.

I'm going to build a frame out of 1x1 aluminum L bar and put the COB's on CPU coolers. Also looking for a good fan driver to power 5-6 fans. Don't know if I want to add my spare 230mm fan to the top of the unit when I enclose it, thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea for redundancy.

Sure did, upped the ppms from 800 to 1200, cal mag at 300 ppm after fresh ro, then 900 of my dyna nutrients. My friend had the problem with other nutrients as well. I'm gonna convince him To switch to soil never had this problem.

I would think it's bleeching because of the heavy intensity.
Pull the lights up to 24" or higher until you have 10-15.000lx, take a half spoon of dolomite lime, giving it milled into hot water and shake it properly. Put it a few days as a foliar application until the green color returns. Later reduce the distance step by step. You can also watering with it, but have a look at your pH. Otherwise lime is slow absorbtion, better look for another calcium / magnesium source like CalMag+ not CaliMag!
And always give a bit dolomite lime into your soil(1-2g/10l), because MJ love it!
