RSO - BHO for Dummies - use

Hi,
I have recently switched over to concentrates. They do work better for my pain. I have been able to cut oxy down to 15mg a day (from 60mg).Much more of a learning curve than expected. I do not grow or make my own.
What is the difference? Is RSO just the name of a brand of BHO?
I am medicating for PTSD, Brain Tumor, Lupus + +. Any suggestions on wax, shatter, other concentrates? What works for you folks? Been smoking 39 years and I'm just lost when I walk into a store. It can be overwhelming plus they rush you. Sorry for the dummy questions....once a dork always a dork. (:

Memorial Day - Thank you to all who have served and their families.

No Rso and BHO are very different. Rso is a whole plant extract meaning you have all the cannaboids and terpenes left in there (which is good) BHO pretty much extracts just the thc and in some small cases cbd. For your conditions RSO is probably a better option and you won't need a dab rig which can be pricey as well. You typically only want to use RSO as an edible or topical though so if you want to smoke or dab go with something else. Also originally rso was made for naphtha which is terrible for you so ask whoever you get it from what they are using. Alcohol is the better health option with rso

I know how to google....just sometimes it is easier to understand and retain info (for me) when someone "talks" it to you.

No problem, it's honestly not all that easy to find straight to the point answers on some of this stuff. You look up rso and you get a bunch off articles on the guy who coined it and not really a lot on the product or how to use it. In my opinion BHO is bad for you. It's just my opinion though and a lot of people on here will disagree. If you want a smokable/vapeable extract and not rso go with c02 oil. No harmful solvents in the mix to get left behind. Or just old school hash...

And BHO/pho are typically called shatter, c02 and different varieties of hash get coined wax... But that's around here in Oregon. everybody does it a bit different. I've seen BHO called wizard wax... As for what works, it all works in some fashion, it just depends on how u like to medicate, what's available in your area and what you can afford.

It seems like the BHO that I tried had a chemical taste, heavy, it burned my throat/lungs. I wondered how healthy that could be.
The wax tasted like smoke/flower. I like that much better. It also knocked me on my bum.

Imo more people make wax out of their bho rather than shatter because good shatter is harder to make. Im a shatter guy all the way, its all we make. All the co2 oil I've seen is more liquid like than stable. If you go to a reputable dispensary the bho is most likely perfectly safe, most of the big ones will get everything tested before they put it on the shelfs. We get all of out stuff tested to make sure all the solvent has been purged. Good shatter that is made with fresh material has an excellent terpene profile and shouldn't be harsh at all.

Unfortunately there is a lot of back yard blasters making shitty product and they don't even have the proper equipment to make safe, good quality shatter and they give it a bad name. If made properly shatter is perfectly safe and should have a great flavor profile. Just make sure you get it from some where that has it tested and can provide you with the results.

Imo if you don't have a closed loop system and a vacuum oven at the very least, you shouldn't be making shatter for others.
