power consumption...pairanoid?

Currently have a 4k room, electric with ac cost me almost $200. Actually my bills are just over $200 for whole house, as I Dont use anything else in it, very weird about it...

Now, I would normally tell anybody to do what makes you feel comfortable and is going to allow you to sleep at night, but I need some advice, as I wouldn't say I'm paranoid, just hesitant...

I want to be able to run my flower room constantly, so I need a veg room. Low on space, only have attic or closet downstairs.

Attic would require 600 watt if not 1000 watt light and a 5000 Btu ac, another $60-$80.

I am considering just buying a t5 for this closet. But not really my style.

Do they run hot at all?

I have extra lights, no biggie, 600 & 1000. But my power bill bothers me, I always pay it the day I get it. but for some reason $200-250 is like the safe zone in my head...

I try to tell myself as long as my bills aren't $500 a month and they get their money it doesn't matter, I knew somebody who had a $700 bill every month. there in the business of selling electricity, were there best customers.

Also, it is not public record in my state, takes a warrant, but again you can read my meter from the sidewalk, and boy did she spin at night...

I guess I am being paranoid...

What's the deal here, is there any truth to this, or is it always another reason first?

O ya, closet is 48x54, rooms 10x10, it would be tight, more concerned about heat build up...

I appreciate your input guys... I'm not the paranoid type, just cautious...

One of my electric bills is around 1800 a month. Had this bill in the same location for 8 years with no problem. I just pay on time and no questions asked. My house alone that I do not grow at is $500 a month during the summer when the central AC is running full blast when its 100+ outside everyday. Granted its a large house but still, I don't think the power company cares. If you had a pool, hot tub, large house with AC, work shop, at your house your electric bill would be really high. Imo its not abnormal to have a $500 a month electric bill, the electric company doesn't know what you have at your house

Concern yourself with ODOR CONTROL more than electric. Consider your grow space size and ( how big of a grow you want ) BEFORE getting in to deep. If the grow is a few plants , then power consumption isn't that alarming. My light bill went from $65 per month to around $105. ( Big Whoop , I run 2 G8 450 LEDS and a CFL setup ( 8 bulb 100w hood ) and no "Federales" banging on the door. All they do is move your usage to a higher tier price. Now if are doing a BIG ASS - GO TO JAIL DO NOT PASS GO type of grow then , that would hard to rope in Multi light setups.

Shit i grow at home too, just not meds. My bill is near if not 500 a month. Im sure they would feel pretty stupid opening my shit only to find grapes lettuce corn strawberries and tomatoes lol all organic too (not looking for an organic fight btw) lol

People get caught because they either sell it,tell it or smell it.

I agree, I'm in between my first and second home at the moment, moving back, renting the other, so I had to get an apartment for 6 months, my electric bill said like $50 a month for budget billing lol, I guess that's my estimated usage or that's what the last tenant used, so I'm already 4-5 times that lol,

I think im just being paranoid, and as long as they get their money everything's fine, Plus I'm guessing its always some other factor which gets people caught up...

I run my lights from 7pm-6am just because of how fast my meter spins, it's next to the a few other meters, its crazy in comparison...

Call your power company and have them put a new meter in. The ones that spin are outdated anyhow.

Pay your electric bill on time every month and you'll have no problems. How high it is doesnt matter, although they may send you letters saying its much over everyone around you. Thats not a big deal. As long as they get their money all is well. You wont run into problems unless you give anyone a reason to fuck with you. Keep to yourself and you wont have a problem.

Im not saying a smart meter. My house doesnt have a smart meter but i also dont have a spinning meter outside my house.
Im kind of ignorant on the subject, but i do believe there is an alternative.

Oh sorry, i had no idea they had non-smart meters. If it has a barcode though then it is & you bet your ass the power company can see the light timer schedules lol.

No doubt they could, but there is also nothing they can do. Thats not probable cause even if the power company did contact the authorites.

Assuming as long as your bills are paid on time, you shouldnt run into problems.
