Building COB satellites to supplement 400W HPS

I'm getting ready to set up an entirely new room, and my 400w bulb just is not going to cut it any longer. I'm planning to add 4x cxa3070's, one at each corner, driven by the meanwell lpc-60-1400.

Are these correct? http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=CXA3070-0000-000N00AB30FvirtualkeyCXA3070-0000-000N00AB30Fvirtualkey941-CXA30700N00AB30F

I'll post up pics soon, but put simply I'll be screwing in mounts at each corner of my hood, and attaching moveable arms to be able to direct the light where it's needed.

May as well try and get the newer cxb 3070. I just got a few through kingbrite in 4000k bb bin.... Quite a bit more efficient. First order through them but it seems legit

4000k would probably complement the hps better imo

don't forget you can run them all on the same driver then too
True..but nothing a few wagos can't handle, with the benefit of low voltage piece of mind. Since its a add on to a reflector one driver would probably be easier to deal with. Either way is really good, and has its benefits and shortcomings

1 driver would be a lot cheaper. Between that and kingbrite you'd end up with best LEDS and best price. Just be careful with the high voltage connections..

70cri or 80cri?

Is there a choice available?

Haven't checked the specs but I'd guess its close, probably 80 cri in that case. I've never flowered with 70 cri so can't really say if its good or bad. I didn't even bother checking cri on the ones I ordered...happy enough with the lumen output..

I would really love to see someone try flowering with the 70cri 4000k or 5000k. That would be very interesting. I can understand why nobody would want to experiment there though, obviously.

For all we know, it could beat the pants off our 80cri 3000k-4000k grows. Nobody's tried.

Is this still pioneering stuff? I'm surprised nobody has said "F%^$ IT" and compared every COB they could get their hands on.

For example, I have not read any threads with the 4000k COB used, and my prejudice against it is based only on experience with fluorescents, which is no comparison at all really.

I'm all for going on an efficiency adventure trying out led's, but I'm just so much more comfortable with the 3000k or even 2700k, as I've witnessed that work.

If it turns out the girls need more blue, ballast is switchable...

Is that sounding logical to you guys, or am I just burnt XD

I've noticed a few cxb3590's on mouser, and wondered if two of the lpc-150-1050's would be sufficient and efficient powering four of the cbx3590's

It is a bit more upfront cost, but if the efficiency gain and power are there, I'm happy to cut out two drivers and simplify things.

How much have you managed to yield under those four cob's at ~25W apiece?

EDIT: well, I guess that'd be a little difficult to answer, after watching your videos.

Check out GreenGenes latest Gorilla Glue#4 run. The plants under the 4000k panel arguably look the best.
