first grow setup... advice do's n dont's

Ok so this is my first actual grow. Ive done quite a bit of research and this is what i have come up with for my 4.5'x2.75'x7'...pics below... if you couldnt make out the writing these are ...all autos... freeze berry, berry bomb, mazar, and pink grapefruit.. being my first grow and it being autos any advice idis welcome as well as criticism.. and yes those r 10 gal kitchen trash cans.....trust me plenty of drainage..... oh yea soil mix lol.... i went equal parts Fox farms ocean forest, happy frog, and a coco mix i found at hydro store.. the ballast im using not sure of brand was a closeout for 119.99 600w electronic.im using a 600w eye hortilux enhanced spectrum super hps. All 6" duct n cool tube n inline fan moves 660cfm. using tap water but got a bucket with aerator and bubble stone. Kinda high might have forgot something.. but just ask... tell me your thoughts plz im a newb that likes to read lol....oh yea planted seed on 420 at 7p est. The were above ground in 2 days. No germination just seed straight in pot.

Should be an interesting grow. The trash cans may be over kill for autos.....but too much soil is never a bad thing as long as you don't have to move 'em around much.

Everything looks good so far. You may find that the plants will stall in growth for a bit as their tap-root attempts to find the limits of your container. Once it does they'll take off like crazy.

About the only thing you should consider later on in the grow is where you're air is exhausting to. Pot can be one stinky fucker and has been known to smell-up the outdoors about as bad as a skunk.

I don't know if you're growing in a legal state, but there's one big-time golden rule: Do not tell anyone about your grow! We all like showing off our handy-work, but it's not a good idea. Besides getting busted, you don't know who your friends will tell or who your friend's-friends will tell about your plants. If you've been reading on here for any length of time you'll have read about someone getting ripped-off or blown in to the cops because they showed someone their grow.

One last note.....be very easy on the nutrients. Your mix has a ton of nutes already and adding more will not be a good thing. I'm guessing that depending on your ratios the FFOF and HF has enough nutrients to keep the plants happy to the end considering you have 10 gal's of soil to start with.

Thanks for your advice.... nutes i really wasnt planning on using much at all maybe 1/4 tsp in like 2g water a couple times. As for smell i will be purchasing a nice sized 6" carbon filter here soon. Temps r running bout 78-80f depending on house temp... gonna make hillbilly ac..... 5 gal bucket well insulated with few 2" holes for pvc coming out the side hole in lid big enough for a small desk fan or something of the sorts that size... have fan blowing into bucket mounted into lid gal jug of solid ice "or dry ice if available". Inside the well insulated bucket. Cold air blows out of 3 -4 holes drilled into side of bucket. Now pvc can be added and made to exhaust the cold air where ever its needed. And of course adjust fan speed accordingly. Have seen decent results with this in closet sized space at my friends house.

All those electrical wires and adapters look pretty poor.

At least clean them up, and don't let them touch the reflector, even it is air cooled.
For instance what if your fan breaks? That reflector will get mighty hot.

Yea working on that. Got a 20 amp breaker and wire just gotta get in crawl space and run the electrical.

hey man u are going to have issue with 2 things

1 the trash cans that are a sealed on the side and assuming with drain holes in the bottom to let out water
a) u are going to need to flush with the feeds u showed me they are chemical and have salts that build up in soil they need to be removed now and then
b) root balling where they grow in on self and choke out
c) overwatering is going to be a big issue

2nd thing is your feed .......it is chemical and it is only part of the kit u need if u are going that method to get best results

that is the full kit it even has the follar sprayer mix .......it has a plan u fallow about when to flush the soil out

the other choice is to go a organic feed system

the same as the dirty dozen but organic based feeds...........organics are less work do to the fact they feed microbos in the soil that keep it PHed and no need flush to remove salts or build up

There will be no problems with drainage got way more drain holes then needed and as for the nutes...i dont really plan on using them but in extremely low doses.... the nutes r mainly for my photos.

your not using super soil
your soil mix is all feeding soils........to get the most out of u will need to feed the photo and most definitely the autos with the short life span

one of those 2 boxes i linked will do it ......dirty dozen needs flushing but a power house ......organics less powerful but less work and stinkier tastier buds

I gotcha.. yea been looking at that ff dirty dozen for a bit. Overal price is not bad.... alot of what i read with these soils most say not to feed... have read a lot of people also saying to blast them with nutes right to the limits... ill probably grab up the dirty dozen this sunday when i get paid..... what would the nute schedule be for autos with that?

autos
3 weeks u start the open seasme and mix half grow half bloom .......use the open seame on it for like 7-10 days then the stretching will stop move over to beastie bloom week 5-8 then cha ching week 9 and 10 ...............something like that

modify the feed plan they offer u to a 8 to 10 week course

Update on the grow... 4 weeks old yesterday.. roots been coming out bottem of can for a week now didnt think they would get there this quick.. anyways what r your thoughts for 4 weeks...

your going fine ....looks like it is pre flowering

if u got the dirty dozen kit this would be the time u would start the open sesame to make more bud sites (every other watering)

if u got the go box this is the time u want to do a mix 50/50 mix of bloom and grow with a last shots of seaweed/rooting.........u are getting to the time to use to liquid fish when u see the stretching stop u want to add some of the bio bud and the liquid squid (the fish stuff stinks but the plant loves it)

Never got around to getti g the box. I got ff trio and friend gave me some big bud and overdrive said it should cover the soluables

no way in hell they cover that
i know them and they are nice for more pushing in a hydro system .........but they do not have the power that the powders do

rem the powders are added to the normal feeding increase the str ........now with it only a tbsp to a gallon for full power mix u can increase the power by just adding little more to push it or taken away to reduce the burn (point i do is to get some burn on the plant then back it down little and hold that feeding the max to the plant as long as it wants it)

the 2 u are talking about came in one of the AN bundle kits the cost of it alone is not justified .....i made the same mistake

the amount of water the plant is intake in increasing as the roots are fanning out by offering the feed plus the soil plus the water u are increase what the plant natural does ........once the buds start forming the amount of water they can intake increases when u were watering once every 2/3 days u be watering every 24/36 hours.......(this is the off set of feeding the plant u pushed it past what the soil naturally does for the plant so u need to maintain those lvls to keep the growth on track)

this is where the learning comes in plus those 2........... big bud is mid flowering and overdrive is mid to final flowering........your missing the opening of the bud sites with open sesame
